I have a broken PSone that I intend on fixing when I get some free time, and I've had an extremely hard time finding any information on how to fix it. I'm starting to think it might be easier to just buy a cheap, working PSone online.

So, here's my question to you! When your old console breaks, do you try to find out how to fix it online, or just buy a new one on the Web?

@mandude: There are some pretty amazing things you can do with emulators these days. ePSXe and Dolphin are two that come to mind.

I've got a broken lynx I can do nothing about. The unit works, it's just the screen in it has faded to non existence.

I do not have any old ones. They ether broke, and had to be thrown out, or I sold them to buy the next one. My PS3 YLOD on me about 6 months back after just buying it from someone and I have been trying to find the $200 it costs to get fixed, but something always comes up first. Which is really annoying considering I got a shelf of about 15-20 games that have never been played because the POS broke so soon after buying it.

I'll fix it myself, but if any issue prevents me from enjoying my console, or if it's a cosmetic issue, I'll buy a new one. Over the years I repaired NeoGeo's, Dreamcasts, NES's, Sega Saturn's, original Gameboy's and PC Engine's, etc etc.

I have an Atari, Colecovision, and Genisis that no longer work. I should see about getting them fixed.

I've thought about replacing the 72 pin connector on my NES, but honestly I'd rather just play on an emulator.
