Does anyone remember this game?

There was a quick look or a video of a game that had a little tank or something with a little dude in it that you would append little blocks and turrets to. The goal was to survive incoming attacks. I think it was a DS or XBLA game. Anyone have any ideas?

Was it Iron Brigade, formerly known as Trenched?

I've never actually seen it, so don't quote me on it, but what you described sounds like it.

Not Iron Brigade... no, it was a much more casual game from what I can remember. Very simple art style. I wish I could remember. It's been driving me crazy!

Mystery solved: It's a game called Steamlands. I have no idea how I heard about it now because GB doesn't typically cover Flash games.
