Dudes with guns; better than dudes with swords

A direct quote from Jeff Gerstmann. Any evidence against this statement?

Metal Slug is better than Golden Axe. Doom II is better than Hexen. Fallout is better than Final Fantasy.

I've always enjoyed unorthodox clubbed weapons, and even blades like killer hunting knives and brutal machetes.

I disagree. I find swordplay much more interesting due to the inherent intimacy of the act. 

I would rather play a god of war clone than a call of duty clone.

And plus, generalizations are never true for every single case.

That's only a opinion. I could say Devil May Cry is better than Call of Duty, that wouldn't make "Dudes with swords better than dudes with guns". It's not even a fair comparison, since they're from different genres. 
 
EDIT: Also, i think that FF is better than Fallout.

I tend to prefer playing as a sword wielder over a gun totter.

A dude with a gun would probably win against a dude with a sword.

Hexen didn't have swords. It had powergloves and shit.

Both have merits.

I find it odd that some of the comparisons have guns in them- mixed with blades.

It's more about context. If your trying to say God of War had no significance I'd say your fucking with me.

However, if we're talking in a video game universe one against the other they still have merits because in video games dudes with blades can often block bullets with swords.

Seems to often be about context.
