Dragon Quest IX has knocked FFXIII of the top spot.

Famitsu's Editor had this to say on the title:

"March [DQIX's launch] will be bigger than the year-end sales war. Even side-stories (such as Dragon Quest Monsters) have sold a million copies, and the previous title in the series (DQVIII) sold 3 million plus. It [DQIX] should be expected to sell from 4 million to 5 million copies"

Total tally of games on Top 15 (by platform):

  •      PS3: 6
  •      NDS: 5
  •      Wii: 1
  •      PS2: 1

Hmm, I'm only interested in FF13, Street Fighter 4, and RE5 from that list.

The list is so predictable. JRPG, JRPG, JRPG....

Bah, what do the Japanese know about games right?, I'm serious :). Japanese tastes could not be more different than western tastes right now I think. It seems as though a gulf has widened because the quality and innovation in our games has improved greatly, while theirs for the most part has remained stagnant. That's not to say I dislike all that is coming out of there, not at all, five games on that list interest me, some more than others though.

I really tried to get into DQ VIII, but being level 30, and still fighting Slimes with happy faces totally draw me off the game, Once I got the "Square" boat, I left the game. But I must admit that it was amazing from every angle, and the voice acting was superb. Level 5 is a great dev studio.
