There are two good things about the situation 1) they work for cbs and 2) they are in la, about 15 minuets from cbs television city, which has every kind of broadcasting equipment imaginable. This is one of the rare situations of having big coporate overlords gives you an advantage over a small indie site

This will affect things in the office if they don't get it back. Also, this is why you don't trust people with your stuff.

This is why purposely staying in crazy drug dens might not be the best idea when you've got tons of expensive equipment. This sucks, but at least none of the guys were there/got caught up in the robbery. Could have been a way worse night.

This is ultimately the only important take away. A tangential question arises, can one know whether or not if it is a caper or a heist from the victims point of view?

This a really unfortunate turn of events and it'll probably make tomorrow incredibly difficult for them, but I'm confident everything is going to work out for them once the next 24 hours blow over.

Call me a conspiracy theorist (or more likely paranoid)...

but Tweeting clearly identifiable pictures of your base location, then disappearing out all day on a publicly available schedule, leaving said location empty.... seemed like a very bad idea to me at the time!

It's a legitimate film studio with supposedly a guard on duty to let people into the building. It's several orders magnitude more secure then last years location.

@defade: save for the fact there was no clear exterior shot of the building posted, the only outside shot that was taken was a fairly generic loading dock, and true only thing we ever saw was individual rooms being shot. If anything, its even stranger due to the fact they're actually in a place that is a designated studio, as discussed on the bomb cast this week.

I guess some assholes just saw them unloading expensive looking stuff and decided to steal it while they were out.

Fingers crossed, I'd be willing to just give this one to 'em. If they can't easily get shit back up and running, take the few days, have an exciting E3 where they just meet with the people they wanna see, bring back some stories. I hate it when plans get wrecked like this. All the best to them, hope they get to take it easy.

Two weeks ago, Jeff talked about pulling out a big heist à la The Fast and the Furious. It involved hijacking the truck with their equipment riding horses.

In all seriousness, it sucks for them. They've put so much effort into making E3 great and now some sons of bitches go and spoil the party for everyone. Catapult them to the sun, I say.
