Gears and Halo

Are gears of war and halo considered a space shooter. Like how cod is a military shooter what is gears and halo. Thanks in advanced

What? Sure. A locust is the evolution of the Space Invader. Think about it.

Even though halo feels and looks more spacier, I guess both would be considered space shooters. Why do you ask?

Well, I'm pretty sure Gears has literally zero space travel/shooting in it, I'd say it's just a shooter. Fantasy shooter maybe?

And Halo stars a space marine so I suppose that qualifies.

So we're trying to decide if these are both space shooters now because we've decided the term "science fiction" too conveniently describes both without making the setting part of the genre?
