Where is the "Jeff strong arms the majority to get his selection to the top of the list" square?
Also missing a square for filibustering for a game nobody else played, ala Invisible Inc. from 2015 and Stardew Valley/Thumper/HyperLight Drifter from last year.
Based on how the last few years have gone, there should be something in here for all the politicking that goes on; you know, the whole "Vote for me now and I'll vote for your thing later" nonsense.
@ungodly: Would be funnier if they didn't almost all say they enjoyed the gameplay :p My "hot take" was with Nier with everyone is literally like "eh but boy that story, huh?" Personally, I think if all of your video game's good parts can be experienced on YT and have the same impact that maybe its not a good video game. :|
@bbalpert: yeah, I would say that based on how they've talked both Nier and Wolfenstein fit this perfectly. I don't think either one will be top 2 but they are definitely going to be in the top 10 list.
@kishinfoulux I never expect a game of that caliber to get acknowledged by the bombcast. Only someone like Jason would probably argue that game at this point. Maybe the Beastcast would actually argue Yakuza 0.

Oh, you mean "the Wolfenstein 2 square" (and I say this as someone who had a decent amount of fun playing Wolfenstein 2)
Or Persona 5 since the dungeons in that game are terrible.
Persona 5 was actually a blast to play (it just got old at the end, but it's like 90-100 hours so that's expected). Wolftenstein just isn't very good, gameplay or moments wise.
I am wondering if the word "I think Zelda Breath of the Wild is a bad game" is gonna fall out of jeff's mouth.

Mario Odyssey is going to win because everyone will be at least okay with it and its fresh in their minds. Somewhat of a boring, straightforward choice there. I'll be really frustrated if PUBG is.. above the top 5 I think? And that's me compromising lol Or if it does get up there, I hope it misses the 2017 release. Granted, they'd sooner release a burning dumpster fire than miss out on awards.
I spend way too much time thinking about the game of the year podcasts and here's a list of things I happen to have that I have noticed seem to happen with some frequency. I am not sure how many of them are on the already made bingo cards but there's no better place for me to post this list so here it is.
brad misremembering how they went about the process of pairing down the game of the year top ten list the previous year
brad trying to come up with a friendly way to make a top ten list but then they end up with a list of like 20 games and someone else says "we have to actually cut some games"
jeff saying "i don't care about most of the games on this list"
alex desperately wanting a game that will get cut to not get cut
brad saying "maaaaaaaybe" when he really means "no (and also perhaps go to hell)"
someone (probably brad) saying "but it's just another [insert franchise/genre here] game" as a dismissive statement
jeff saying "i think that could be number 10 on this list"
someone (probably brad) says something should be on the top ten list despite all arguments to the contrary because it plays/feels/shoots/controls "tight" or "the best" or something along those lines
brad doing anything he can to distract others from talking about the game he wants on the top ten list until there are fewer options left so it has a better chance to make the top ten (I'm on to your sneaky tactics brad!)
brad saying he's gonna play a game over the holiday break but you know he won't
brad arguing saying he loved a game but then saying that he didn't finish it
someone saying something would win "best graphics technical" or "most graphics"
vinny saying "remember these are all good games" as they tear all the games to shreds
dan saying something to the effect of he "hasn't felt this way about a game in years" for the nth year in a row, this might happen twice with both Zelda and Mario this year
So yeah clearly I'm a crazy person who needs to find better things to do with my time than to keep tabs on stuff like this but hey it is what it is.
@elmorales94: @kingbonesaw: So I just listened to this week's podcast and this seems inevitable now. Jeff gave Horizon a 5/5 and said the story was amazing when it came out, however this week he just nonchalantly stated that it didn't do it for him compared to Assassin's Creed...
@bollard: Yeah I noticed that too and thought it was pretty strange. It made me sad because I thought he would be the main person trying to get the game in the top 10, but now that seems really iffy
