Is it necessary to still follow the in game brightness adjust pattern slider if my tv is already adjusted? Often I just leave games on default brightness, but am not sure if I should still follow the “adjust until left image is barely visible” type of thing since I already adjusted my TVs settings.

Every game is different. So try it, if it looks better keep it. If not readjust. Games don't know what your eyes are seeing or what you like best. Some people prefer lighter or darker than others. Some people's eyes don't work as well as others or just work differently.

My TV is properly calibratdd as well and I hardly ever need to move those in-game sliders. But as said above, every TV is different, every is different and light even changes during the day. So I would adjust once at the start of every game for what feels right and that’s that.
