Mario game questions

Hey I have a few questions regarding mario. The questions are is super paper mario and either of the luigi mansions platformer games? Some sites I saw labeled it as platform, others did not, so can I have some clarification. Also why is super paper mario named "super" if its not part of the main super mario games

Neither Luigi's Mansion is a platformer. Super Paper Mario is kind of a platformer. It mixes RPG and platformer gameplay. It's part of the Paper Mario series of RPG's. I think the Super part of the name was just meant to evoke nostalgia like the Super Nintendo or Super Metroid, or any of the other games that had Super in front of the name on that system. It's like how a lot of 3DS games end in 3D or how a lotof Nintendo 64 games ended in 64. It had to do with the platform, and Nintendo is just trying to capitalize on fan's fond memories of that era.
