MGS4 HELP

Borrowing a PS3 from a friend for a bit, went out and grabbed a copy of MGS4 from someone, and I'm installing the game, and its been stuck on 99% for the longest time and the animation of snake has frozen, with a disc symbol switching back and forth with a disc in the top left corner although the installing... keeps flashing. I don't know what to do any I don't wanna ruin my buddys PS3. What do I do? I think maybe its frozen?

The PS3 has been compromised. Set it on fire before the virus starts spreading!

Turn it off and back on. The install will either start over or continue where it left off.

Force a shutdown and then examine the disc for smudges and junk. 

Turning off/on the PS3 shouldn't do any damage. Shut it off and try again. The install should pick back up. I can't imagine why that'd happen but consider wiping the disc with a microfiber cloth.

Hmmm, it seems that although I got through the first two cutscenes, octopus and weird ninja black and white commerical, and then it went back to the dash, and now im stuck on some weird tv thing that wont let me start the fucking game, keeps switching channels.

@HandsomeDevil: if you have an attention span like me and can tolarate a 6 hour game (gameplay only skipping all the cutscenes) Might get 7 hours of gameplay if you try to slow down a bit.

@HandsomeDevil: No I like metal gear and snake eater because the cutscenes are well paced. I don't like sons of the liberty and mgs4 because kojima didn't edit his cutscenes and kept everything in there. He should hire and editor imo. I own every single metal gear games on consoles.

A bit off-topic here, but how much do you have to suck at taking care of stuff to scratch a Blu-ray?
