This argument is all semantics, but it's weird that PSN for PS3 and Vita get separate sections from their retail counterparts and DD sites like Steam, Origin don't. Also, I don't necessarily like calling the Windows platform PC, because a Mac is by definition a PC. I know why things are as they are, b/c otherwise we get the whole crazy C64/Apple II/every other obscure PC hardware thing getting splintered out but it's still bothersome to me somewhat.

i don't consider clicking a different icon on my desktop to launch a game a different platform. the platform on my PC is Win7
In terms of Mac vs PC: Until some time around 2005 Macs had a different processor architecture than Windows-based PCs. Further, there continues to be a massive compatibility discrepancy.
Well yes it would be nice if everything worked with everything else. You know what would really be nice? If all games worked when they were released. Instead they produce and ship out the game using that month to frantically create a patch that will fix most of the bugs.

PSN, XBLA etc. likely get their own platform page because the games released on those services are usually vastly different than what is released on the main consoles. That distinction does not exist on computer platforms. Also if Steam and Origin got their own platform pages, then every other digital distribution service would have to as well, and there are a lot.
