Retro Game Master on Kotaku, Did you think it was good?

I just finished watching episode 5 of Retro Game Master on Kotaku and as a fan of Gamecenter CX I was not happy with it.

My main complaint is the quality of translation with Arino's subtitles. Some subtle jokes weren't translated, like how he admits to humming the spelunker theme when going down the long ladder. Other times the subs were just flat out wrong or out of sync. There seemed to be no effort put into explaining the cultural jokes he makes or introducing the staff like explaining that Tani is the sound engineer and a constant target of fat jokes from Arino(he makes a joke about the ham and how Tani probably has a lot of ham at home).

And while I did like the idea of having the narrator in English but I didn't like the way this guy was voicing this episode. In the original, the Japanese narrator does a parody of the creepy voices that you'd hear during a horror movie or TV show.

I don't know how much money or effort is being put behind this project but I can't help but feel it might be better in the hands of someone else.

What did anyone else think?

i agree, translation is not that good.. it's kinda sad but the fan-subs are far better.... im just happy people are getting exposed to Game Center CX.

I also find it strange that they omit the arcade visits or the developer interviews... which I think adds a lot to the original show.

I don't visit Kotaku anymore, so I don't know.

I hate how much they cut, but having everything subbed does make it harder to focus on the gameplay, so I'll take it for now. 

Sometimes I feel like I'm reading the G4 of typed word whenever I'm on Kotaku. 
 
I've always wanted to watch Game Center CX, but never got around to it. Did any of you play the DS game?

dont know, because despite it being on a web only outlet its geolocked ¬_¬
