I have been trying for quite some time to find a game I'd played more than 2 decade ago. I don't remember the developers' and publishers' names, and I've tried almost every related Concept, Object, and Location I can think of.

Here's what I do remember:

- The protagonist is a white male, with a bald or shaved head. He is either a prisoner or a test subject.

- The location is either a laboratory (possibly a secret/remote one) or a prison (or a lab within a prison). Main color palettes were metal color (grey, some rust-brown, etc). There were also green test chambers (similar in design to these) is some rooms.

- The game was 3D, with a fixed camera, like the early Resident Evil games.

- In one of the rooms there were mutated monkeys that will kill the player upon entering the room, unless the player had acquired bananas beforehand.

- One way to exit the initial room area (but not the only way) was via an air duct, but if the player hadn't disabled the security system beforehand, the protagonist will turn to a gooey puddle.

- There were laser turret/guns. (I've tried searching the database with the "Laser", "Turret", and "Gun", but to no avail)

- I remember playing the game as late as '98-'99, and I'm pretty sure that the graphics and gameplay features were post-'96. So somewhere in the '97-'99 range. I'm pretty sure of that year range, since I've played both Star Wars: Episode I - Racer and KKND2: Krossfire at around the same time.

I'll add new information as I remember it, or re-word it if the description isn't clear enough to the best of my abilities.

Thanks in advance.

Edit: I played it on PC, and it was disc-based game, not an emulator.

Edit 2: I've found the game, it is called ArA NGC (gameplay video).

I thank everyone who commented here, have a pleasant day :)

Good news! I've found the game! It is ArA NGC (gameplay video). As I thought, this game isn't in GB's database.

Thanks for anyone who contributed.

So not to be a total smart-ass, but that sounds like it could be anything from the late 90's. The only thing that really narrows it down as far as I can tell is the "fixed camera angle" thing - otherwise, I'd guess that this was System Shock 2 or the first Unreal.

What system do you remember playing it on?

I think the character from Overblood had hair, so that rules out that game.

Unfortunately, it's neither.

It's all good.

You are right, I forgot to mention that. I played on PC, and it definitely wasn't Unreal or System Shock.

I really want this to be figured out. It's going to do my head in.

Is it Bioforge?

Thank you for your suggestions. It isn't Bioforge nor Planet of the Apes. However, the game's atmosphere and overall vibes were closer to those of Bioforge's than Resident Evil's. Meaning it was more about being a suspenseful game than a survival horror one.

The more I try to find this game, the more I'm convinced that it isn't in GB's database.

@hameyadea: Can you remember any more details about the game? Pieces of story? Weapons? What did you actually have to do in the game?

Was it The Thing? I'm sure it's not, and I'm getting further away. Worth throwing it out there.

Shadowman? Again, probably not.

Wow, that gameplay video. Somebody get a copy of the game to Vinny, ASAP. Great Playdate material.

Just adding a few more 'out there' ones that fit some of the criteria (but not all). Probably not any of them, but worth a go as it's always possible for memories (especially if they are childhood memories?) to be (figuratively...) squished and stretched over time until we remember some aspects that were never really there or that were from other things/memories:

O.D.T.: Escape... Or Die Trying

Deathtrap Dungeon

Nightmare Creatures

Shadow Man (Just noticed that was already suggested but just doing so again for the 'bald character' reason. It was the first one I thought of when I heard that!)

Haha. I've never heard of this game. It looks like something I'd play though.

It's not available on any legit online services, but a quick Google says you can get it in other ways. Hopefully they add it to GOG at some point.
