Unofficial list in words of Giantbomb Game of the Year 2021 awards

I had the habit of reading Giantbomb’s GOTY daily recap first then listening to the deliberation podcast to find out how did they get there. The habit kinda died in 2021, when the deliberation podcast came hot off the press and people preferred just writing about their own thoughts than forming some representing the site.

For those who still want to find out the result then see how did they get there, here is yours truly trying to listing the results.

1. Letter of the Year: J

Runners up: K, S

(Even with the change from site of ex-Gamespotters to site led by that ex-Gamespotter, it would not be a Bombcast without some topic not related to video game so closely. Or at least that’s what your truly think.)

2. Chilliest of Game, Brah: Chicory: A Colorful Tale

Runners up: Unpacking, Forza Horizon 5

3. Best Time Loop Game: Outer Wilds Echoes of the Eye

Runners up: Deathloop, the Forgotten City

4. Best Music: Chicory: A Colorful Tale

Runners up: Get in the Car, Loser: No More Heroes 3

5. Most Disappointing Game: Grand Theft Auto Definitive Edition

Runners up: Pokemon Bright Diamond/Shinning Pearl; Warioware: Get It Together

6. Best Switch Game that is Not Yet On Switch: Wildermyth

Runners up: They Always Run, Demeo

(As the 5^thanniversary of Switch coming up, Giantbomb seems bit late to this “asking for Switch port” party. That being said, I did got They Always Run during the Lunar New Year Sale on Steam, played it on my Windows gaming tablet and had a blast. Thanks for recommendation.)

Runners up: Resident Evil Village, Kena Bridge of Spirits)

Yeah, Chicory cleaned up this year. I hope more people expeiens it with such a big vote of cofidence from GB.

Also, this is very off topic, but I just like the idea of Chicory being in use again - even as a word. I grew up with Chicory Coffee, which I think lost its place in the world after the 1970s when northwest cofffee movement started. I wonder if some people even know what Chicory is, or if for Millenains it might just be the name of a rabbit?

I have no clue what chicory is, but to be fair, English is my second language.

@monkeyking1969: If you like chicory as a coffee adulterant, you should really check out pinon nut coffee. Turns out it's goddamn delicious, and I say this as a literal Pacific Northwest coffee asshole.

Personally think the community shouldn't have to be the ones to do this
