Why didn't anyone tell me that these games were this awesome?

I was at gamestop a couple days ago and found myself picking this game up due to hearing about its interesting gameplay so I was finally able to find it and play it for 14 bucks...

Why in the hell didn't anyone recommend this game to me earlier?

This should be called Parkour, the video game. I mean, the controls are great, the gameplay is great and it is intense as hell, even the combat is quite fun as well. The story.... ehh... not bad, but not good either. I can respect that they did try though with that park judging by some of the 3D animation they did.

In fact, the only main flaws I find with this game is the story, it is not bad or good, but I mainly blame that on one thing. It looks EXACTLY like an E-Insurance commercial. In terms of cutscene work. I don't blame them for being cheapasses, but come on! I JUST saw 3D animation storytelling in the game and now their doing this? Keep one style of storytelling fellows!

But anyways, the only other problem I had with the game is with how fucking bright it is. In fact, imagine jumping ontop of buildings, kinda bright out during sunlight, but imagine going into a pure orange/blue/white room almost instantly after just getting used to the brightness outside. Warning, this shit is kinda creepy. I won't post the freaking thumbnail for being creepy. But yeah, this is exactly what the eyes go through throughout mirrors edge.

Another game which was just a random buy around christmas time was that new Castlevania game, Lords of Shadow. This game... is fucking awesome. I know I may get flak for saying this, but this is a much better game than the 2D ones IMO. there isn't as much backtracking and "WTF do I do?" moments like in the DS ones as well. This game is an awesome reboot to a franchise that really needed it.

The story is fucking awesome, buy this game if you love great stories in video games. also if you love Patrick Stewart being dramatic throughout. No, this isn't just some cameo he had, he was in this game for a MAJOR part of it. Instead of dying 5 seconds in like oblivion.

I like this game like I do the first God of War game, both games have awesome stories. (yes, the first god of war game does have an awesome story.) I however hope that the next one of these castlevania games doesn't have fucking time travel in it... hopefully.

Any unknown wii games I should get as well anyone? I would love to grab up some more unknown hits.

Both those games are amazing. However, you never once mentioned the first game's title, Mirror's Edge, in your post. May want to fix that. Well except for in the very last sentence. Still not obvious what game you are speaking about to those who have no clue.

Yeah, Mirror's Edge was a fun and novel experience, but the combat was just awful. Negativity aside, I'm looking forward to any future Mirror's Edge games.

It was a pretty divisive game though.. you either hate it, or love it.

It really kills Mirror's Edge that only about 50% of the gameplay is any good. The parts where you are chased through bright, open environments and have several traversal options are fantastic, but there are far too many slow, plodding platforming puzzles.

Mirror's Edge also had fantastic music and art direction. I really wish the story was vaguer, though. It had so many emotional overtones, but the actual plot was pretty dumb. Reminds me of the film "Hackers" in that way. It would have been better if the story was just alluded to.

Mirror's Edge was ok. But Castlevanisa was one of my favorite games of 2010. It's also pretty long too, with a ton of variety in enemies and locales.

Best Wii games would be Sin and Punishment, Muramasa: Demon Blade, Zak and Wiki, and Monster Hunter Tri. Those are all kind of on the DL here in the states.

It's not good that I had no idea what you were talking about (the first game) until I looked at the comments. Mirror's Edge was okay, and Castlevania: SOTN was okay as well. The reason no-one told it to you before was because you:

A) Never went to the forums where people discuss said games, and..

B) They weren't that great. Not a hit on you, I am glad you enjoyed it, but not a lot of people did, thus the lack of social exposure.

I was not aware that people actually did not like mirror's edge. I thought that was an awesome and very unique experience. I have definately been meaning to play the new castlevania at some point. One man's trash is another's treasure I suppose. For me I really liked the 2009 wolfenstein, that game was super fun and had some great moments.

When was that announced? I know EA took a chance on both Dead Space and Mirror's Edge as new IPs and (clearly) they ended up throwing their weight behind Dead Space as a franchise and let Mirror's Edge tank although it had quite a cult following the same way that Dead Space did when it first came out.

The only problem I had with Mirror's Edge was how short it was. I beat it in a day. :(
