Why do you game?

 What possesses a man (or woman) to game? Why does he take that first step off of Mount Normalcy into the Valley of Slice, Dice, and Kick Ass? For what reasons do we find solace in a purely digital world?
 
I play games for the same reason I read, write, and punch small, defenseless children.
 
It's fun.
 
I know others may game for escapism (whether they are trying to escape reality, an abusive relationship, etc.), and others still game for the experiences offered (I find this trend most common among individuals who declare themselves strictly RPG gamers).
 
Why do you associate as a gamer? What's most fulfilling about being a gamer? Why do you game?

Because I live.

It varies.
 
Sometimes I want good gameplay.
 
Other times I'm looking for a good story/atmosphere.

Its better to shoot WWII Nazis as today's Nazis are just lazy Rednecks and the cops disapprove of me shooting them....crazy right?! That and a distinct lack of real zombies, pffft thank again God. That and every time I get in a bar fight and roll dice at the guy to see who wins I end up in the ER.

It's fun!
 
Also, it's a great way to enjoy something with friends who are in another state.

Ordinarily I would be a little more hesitant to close a duplicate thread, but given that the other mentioned thread is older, has recent responses, and uses the exact same title, I think I have no choice here.
