Steam has 16 million users and EA.
No blizzard yet mind but I think Live suck and topple like saddam statue soon due to shittyness.
Microsoft sharks but they give no shit about pc gaming I think, too busy trying to push 360 units.
If they buy steam they fuck it up and make us pay for DLC someone can mod for free and probably make valve put console first and fuck pc up ass.

If steam ever bought I think I rather have EA than Microsoft, they at least put out pc games.

Agree?

Live is a good service, no need for them to buy Steam currently.

Valve knows better than to ever sell Steam.

It's worth so much more than any other online service available.

GFWL needs a bit of refining, give them a bit of time. It's only really been this quarter the service for the PC has actually started to show up. When Windows 7 is released then I expect to start seeing improvements being thrown at it.

They're able to buy it now.  That doesn't mean Valve is going to sell it.  Just because you have a cool lawnmower doesn't mean your neighbor can buy it if you're not selling.

Steam is great. I wish it used less system resources, though.

Your analogy is hillarious :D

GFW was never successful, but I don't see them quitting the business anytime soon.

I can't see MS ever wanting to buy Steam. They're the front-runner in online console gaming, yet there's still so much more potential. I doubt they'd want to spread themselves too thinly

If would probably do them better to just make there service better.  If I could have the dashboard running on my computer right now, where it's showing friends pop up and such...that would be totally awesome.

Doubt it. They already have Xbox Live so I don't see the point in them buying Steam.

They may want to buy it someday, but Microsoft seems to try to purchase every website on the internet at sometime.

It's possible that they may try, but Newell will never let it happen.

The better question is, COULD they buy steam? As in is Valve willing to sell.

No, I prefer my programs to remain intact, meaning Microsoft doesn't give it the 360 treatment and fuck it up.

To do that they would probably have to buy out Valve. And, honestly, that might be a good move on Microsoft's part. Valve pretty much only publishes on Microsoft platforms, and integrating GFW Live into Steam would make for a pretty awesome PC gaming service.

I doubt it would happen, but it would be pretty interesting to see.

As long as Newell is alive, they won't.

A majority market share, to the point when you have people asking publishers, "Why isn'y Game X on Steam?!" means even entertaining the idea of buying Valve (not just Steam, but Valve entirely) moots the point, considering Valve was founded by ex-Microsoft employees, Michael Harrington and Gabe Newell, you really think they'll resign their corporation to Microsoft? Insanity!
Valve have created their own PC consumer industry via Steam, and it is highly unlikey; considering Mike and Gabe's background that they'd settle for anything less then their own personal domination of the consumer PC market share.
Perhaps an agreement in terms of Achievement points is in order, I just gained an achievement in Penny Arcade Episode 2 that I'd love to be reflected on my Live account, it'd be great if they unified achivements, ditto for Spore. The entire Achievement system needs a unified program, World of WarCraft has achievements, Spore has achievements, Sins of a Solar Empire has them, PS3 has trophies, X360 has achivements, but they're all over the place; A unified numerical value for all achievements accured is in order.

Man, seriously, horse armour is so far in the past I had nearly forgotten that Oblivion-related content. Why not Knights of the Nine, Gears of War 2 map packs, Fable 2's DLC. Horse Armour was Bethesda's first attempt, and generally speaking, any serious consumer attempt at DLC minus map packs, and since then they developed viable means with which to generate an income from an entire DLC expansion pack aloneside a pirate ship, spell scrolls and a mage's tower. To bring up Horse Armour at this point is to complain about why I couldn't use a mouse in Doom. Seriously.
