Your most favorite gaming genres at the moment? (As of May 24th, 2022)

Dear gamers in the Giant Bomb forums

Here are my personal favorite gaming genres at the moment are:

• Sim Racing
• Rally Sim
• Truck Driving Sim
• Simcade Racing
• Car Mechanic & Detailing Simulator

So how about yours?

Edit: These genres made me become 1/3rd PC fanboy, 1/3rd PS5 fanboy & 1/3rd Xbox Series X fanboy but don't get me wrong, I don't want to go against the Nintendo Switch these days.

Those that lets me play with other players online or MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena). Some of those I have experience playing are DOTA 2, League of Legends, and Smite.

Not in any specific order ...

• Grand strategy
• 4X
• MUD
• Management sim
• Isometric CRPG
• Space sim

There are so many old and new games in various of different genres that it is hard to list the most favorite ones.

My favourite genres don't really change, i consider third person shooters to be my absolute favourite but i'm playing lots of stream/podcast games at the moment, so currently i'm playing lots of racing games and Banished which is a... city builder?

My preferences are pretty firmly set in:

• RPG
• Puzzle
• Turn based strategy/tactics
• Farming

I'll also enjoy a good:

• 3rd person "action adventure"
• Card / Mahjong game

But I don't get excited much for releases in the second set these days.

• Souls-like
• Metroidvania
• JRPG
• Point & Click Adventure
• Visual Novel
• 3rd person action game (e.g. Devil May Cry, Resident Evil 2)

WRPGs (action or tactical/turnbased), open world action games, immersive sims, and grand strategy games. Currently juggling Elden Ring, Weird West, and an ongoing Crusader Kings 3 multiplayer game, which I think is a good representative sample of those tastes.

@cikame: Awesome choices! I'm thinking to buy a city builder game called Cities: Skylines for my PC to start my own virtual city in the near future.

Got back into turn-based tactical games for a while... really loved X-Com 2, Triangle Strategy and Wargroove. Was a bit disappointed by Advance Wars being delayed, seemingly indefinitely. I'm thinking of picking up Fire Emblem: Three Houses, but not sure if I want to dive into another really story-heavy game right now since I'm busy with a lot of other things in my life at the moment.
