Hey guys I am currently thinking about upgrading my CPU fan, but I am not sure which one is best. I have been looking at the Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 7 and the Cooler Master Hyper N520. If you have had experiance with these fans or know a better fan let me know. Right now I am running a stock fan on an Intel E8500; it idles around 42C. Your help is appreciated.

Wait... CPU fan, or CPU cooler? If you're looking for a cooler, the best you can get is the Thermalright Ultra 120. It might be more expensive than you're willing to go, though. For quiet yet powerful fans, go with a Scythe S-Flex.

Fan?  Or actual heatsink?  It doesn't help if we don't know the actual CPU.

For example, the most recommended heatsink for an i7 would be the Thermalright TRUE.  However, it's probably not recommended for the lower class CPUs because of the added stress and bulk to the motherboard.  So as with all computer related problems, more information please.

In general though, Zalman makes pretty good coolers.

@Jiggah:

I guess a CPU cooler would be the correct terminology (heat sink and fan). Again, the processor is an Intel E8500; I do not plan on overclocking.

I've got the Cooler Master V8, its very good, though it is quite expensive

edit: It is also huge, I had to cut these little plastic fan mounting  clips of the side of my case for it to fit in, and I have an Antec 900, which isn't a huge case but it's definitely not small.
