I'm gonna be honest, J-Pop is a guilty pleasure for me. I'm so conscious of this genre though that I won't even dare put it on my actual iPod. The farthest I'll go is leaving it on my iTunes playlist and a few Pandora playlists.

I actually actively dislike Beat Crusaders, though i'm not really sure why. Yui, Asian Kung Fu Generation and High and Mighty Color are more up my alley.

Everything I know about J-Pop or J-Rock I got from Cowboy Bebop, FLCL and Ouendan. The music for all of those is stellar (even thought the majority of the music from Cowboy Bebop doesn't really fall into either of those categories.)

Back in the day, a co-worker of mine introduced me to Pizzicato Five. They are AWESOME as well. Another Japanese group that I love is the Boredoms. If you haven't heard the Boredoms, you should because they will blow your mind.

ALSO, Guitar Wolf. I got to see Guitar Wolf about three days before Bass Wolf died. I was actually in line at their booth to buy my Guitar Wolf shirt and Bass Wolf was sitting at a table about five feet away from me. I didn't say anything because I can't speak Japanese at all. I've kicked myself ever since then. If you don't know Guitar Wolf, you should listen to them as well. Very entertaining. Guitar Wolf also starred in a movie called "Wild Zero" which I highly recommend.

What do you live under a rock?

Here's a definition for you from wiki-

J-pop is an abbreviation for Japanese pop, but is also a loosely defined musical genre that entered the musical mainstream of Japan in the 1990s. It refers to Japanese popular musicians, and was coined by the Japanese media to distinguish Japanese musicians from foreign musicians. Today, the Japanese music industry is the second largest behind the United States in the world. The origin of modern "J-pop" is said to be Japanese-language rock music inspired by The Beatles. Unlike former Japanese popular music called kayōkyoku, J-pop used a special kind of pronunciation. For example, Keisuke Kuwata pronounced the word "karada" (body) as "kyerada". On the other hand, Taro Kato, a member of rock band Beat Crusaders, did not like it, saying that J-pop was not the encoded pop music but the pops music remembered by being aired many times.

Sorry it's dark.

Flow FTW

@Kaizzy: Well if J-pop is based of Beatles music I better check it out. I love the Beatles. It might be a little weird not understanding what they are saying though.

Don't listen j-pop or j-rock, but I listen to a lot bunch of japanese bands who play "western" music I guess? Bands and artists like Mono, Kashiwa Daisuke, Te', SPECIAL OTHERS, and some other really good band whose name is japanese so I dont actually know what they are called. On a whole I have like most japenese bands that I have listen too.

On another note I really like P4's sounds track, though not really into j-pop. Espicially the song Heaven, really dig that one.
