First concert I ever went to was their Ill Communication tour with The Roots as a tweener at New Orleans Lakefront Arena. Very unfortunate, but at least the Beasties put out such a large and marvelous body of work for us to remember him by.
Beastie Boys' Adam Yauch has died of cancer.
Can't say I've spent much time listening to his music, but I have heard of his humanitarian work. RIP.
Bummer one of the few hip hop groups deserving of any respect. RIP and I hope the beastie boys still keep doing what they do.
I spent about 15 minutes at work reading the story on MSNBC hoping it was a troll. I guess the only trolls were in the comments section there. Never really recovered mentally after hearing about this as it just sent me back to 8th grade and having Metallica's "Master of Puppets" and The Beastie Boys "Licensed to Ill" with me everywhere I took my Walkman. Way too soon...
RIP
Although it does amuse me that whenever an artist dies people seem to automatically like them, no matter how much they were disliked in life.

I think you're underestimating the amount of beastie boys fandom, turns out, they're pretty well known and liked.
@BestUsernameEver I know they were fairly popular at a time, but their popularity has certainly waned in recent years and up until this point the only discussion I've ever seen of them was in a completely sarcastic or condescending sense. Either way the point is moot, I'm still saddened by the loss of another musician.
Although looking at it I guess Hot Sauce Committee part 2 was received very well, I'm probably just being dumb here...
I'm greatly saddened by the loss of the MCA. I usually don't care much for celeb deaths, but without him the Beasties are no more.
True story: Ryan Deezy and I attended together the second show at the Oakland Coliseum during the Hello Nasty tour in 1998. It was a blast, the Beasties were at the top of their game. Full of energy, rotating stage, and Mix Master Mike's first tour with them. Mike's previous turntable group (Skratch Pkklz) opened the show..
The recent news has left me in a melancholic state; leaving me to remissness over some good memories from long ago. Just wanted to stop in and share.
