my favorite was always invader zim. or courage the cowardly dog. or johnny bravo.
but it seems that cartoons suck nowadays. oh well
i feel kind of odd about being 15 and already thinking back about the good old days
favorite cartoon
That weird feeling about the good old days only gets more pronounced as you get older. Just knowing that you're 15 gives me all kinds of weird realizations about things you weren't even alive for. And I'm only 20.
As far as American cartoons go, I was always into Rocko's Modern Life, Ren and Stimpy, Doug, Recess, Arthur, pretty standard stuff. About the time that people started getting into CatDog and Spongebob was when I started really disliking cartoons of that sort.
Courage was kinda genuinely freaky though, had some depth to it you wouldn't necessarily see as a kid, which I appreciate.
ps. i had no idea things happned before i was born
Dexter's Laboratory, Johnny Bravo, Pinky And The Brain, The Animaniacs, and Batman The Animated Series: Those were my favorites when I was but a wee lad. As for today, I have to say it's Adventure Time: With Finn And Jake, it is weird and hilarious.
Currently it's Adventure Time and Venture Brothers.
My favorite cartoons of all time are the ones by Tex Avery.
Duckman
Tom & Jerry
Dragonball ( Original series)
Courage the Cowarldy Dog, Chowder, Flapjack, Megas XLR, Samurai Jack, Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi Show (don't you fucking dare criticize me), Class of 3000, Totally Spies, and from Nickelodeon to change things up (I mostly always hated Nick to be honest) Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide.
I just stopped watching cartoons about a year and a half ago, actually.
I was fucking sick of Cartoon Network trying to be edgy.
I always look back at Johnny Bravo with praise, but when i watch it, it isn't as good as i recall. Mainly, Cartoon Network stuff, as well as some of the cleverer stuff on Nickelodeon, like Hey Arnold, which was quite mature for it's audience................................ and Spongebob.
The ultimate one, though, was Courage the Cowardly dog, which was frightening, hilarious, and had the best ending... ever. I fucking cried. The soundtrack is amazing, too.
@RoujinX: Apparently, I'm related to the creator or a director/writer of Freakazoid. :O EDIT: Ronaldo Del Carmen. It's my dad's cousin's (who works for Dreamworks animation) friend's brother. Not blood, but generations, dawg.
It used to be The Simpsons. As I've gotten older, I've lost interest in it, and have strangely moved on to Spongebob. That may be highly unusual. Anyway, Spongebob Squarepants is currently my favorite cartoon.
Other favorites include Rocko's Modern Life, Hey Arnold, and Family Guy.
Terrible show, IDC if you asked me for my opinion." @JJOR64 said:
No, Dragon Ball (Original)" My favorite cartoon of all time has to be Dragon Ball Z. Did I mention the opening has a kick ass song?
9:00 is a scene cut from the American releases, Bulma flashes Roshi her (lack of) underwear lol, Kids cartoons "
I flicked over to the cartoon channels a couple moths ago (for the first time in a couple years), man that was depressing.
" i feel kind of odd about being 15 and already thinking back about the good old days "LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
Either Rocky and Bullwinkle or The Simpsons. Or the classic 40s Loony Tunes (Actually, I think they were still Merry Melodies at that point). Yeah, I'm pretty old school with cartoons (though I did enjoy newer shows like Invader Zim quite a bit).
I recently picked up the complete series of Mysterious Cities Of Gold which I had vague memories of from my childhood, its actually even better than I remember. Especially considering the unwatchable crap they show to kids these days.
Arthur, Recess were classic cartoons. Anything with particularly bad animation or surrealism really put me off as a kid. CatDog was the weirdest.
Freakazoid
The Animaniacs
Fairly Odd Parents
Family Guy
That's about it right now.
Oh wait, Sonic SatAM also a good one.
That's the good(awesome) cartoon, not the shitty one
Batman from way back is the best cartoon series I have ever seen. It appeals to both kids and adults.
Instead of just a favorite cartoon, I'll say Toonami, as that was my only reason to watch cartoon network anyway. Lot's of shows on that block I enjoyed watching. DBZ, Reboot, Gundam Wing, Batman/Superman TAS, etc. All that provided by a sardonic robot, a ship AI, and the omnipresent voice of Peter Cullen (only in promos, though, but he was still awesome).
The original Transformers from the 80's was and still is my favorite to this day. I had every episode, before the film, on VHS. I was so into that show that I used to draw my favorite characters when I was watching it. My grandfather used to watch it with me sometimes because he dug the way the robots transformed into other things. Good times...
