I'm fairly certain there are very few Canadian football fans on this site, but certainly the way the Grey Cup ended last night has to be the most ludicrous conclusion to a sporting event in human history.

Yes, it rhymes with 'vagina'; shut the fuck up
Yes, it rhymes with 'vagina'; shut the fuck up
In the CFL, teams play 12 a side, and the Montreal Allouettes got two chances to kick the game-winning field goal because the Saskatchewan Roughriders had 13 men on the field at the time. All week, Riders' fans, staff, and players were bragging about the "13th man" that would give them the advantage, by this they mean the influx of fans that invaded Calgary's McMann Stadium. Regina is not a far drive from Calgary, and many Saskatchewanians feel literally invested in their football team because it is owned and operated by the Saskatchewan Provincial government.

Anyways, the Allouettes doubtlessly feel vindicated, but I'm sure at least a couple of the Roughriders are on suicide watch.

Can anyone think of a more ridiculous conclusion to a football game -- or any other sporting event for that matter -- than this?

Actual Montreal doesn't have to feel dirty.  Just the team.

Whatever, it's Saskatchewan's special teams coach's fault. Montreal has no reason to feel dirty or guilty or anything, if you watch the video, you'll notice the penalty flags are flying as the kick is being lined up, the kicker could easily argued that the commotion distracted him.

I see, well, I'm sure it'll all work out for the best...?  Maybe...?

Make no mistake, Saskatchewan should feel twice as bad for giving the game away, but I just wouldn't much feel like a victor if I won the way Montreal did.

This was one of the greatest stains on professional sports. The entire coaching staff should be fired and the guy who was the extra man should be cut. Saskatchewan loses in the worst way imaginable, and Montreal has nothing to be proud of whatsoever. Just watching this disgusts me.

seems like people are more inclined to post crazy endings but there are plenty of hilarious blunders that happened randomly during the game.
heres what i believe is the biggest blunder of an ending of a game WATCH THE WHOLE CLIP:
Amazing ending to a 1994 High School football game, Plano East down 41-17 with 3 minutes to go

okay, this is easily the greatest blunder OF ALL TIME:

Lol, at least get the quote right :P. No, the greatest blunder was probably Bobby Engram dropping an easy catch in the endzone in the same round of the playoffs a year later. Or, you know, thinking that things were going to be reffed fairly in SBXL  :P

@TwoOneFive: Why did Piano East go for a two-point conversion when there was like a minute left in the game when you're down by 4? Was he that sure that they could score another touchdown? They deserved to lose. Also, those announcers are so hardcore Texan.

@TwoOneFive: Yeah, I saw that Texan one a while back, my favourite part was one of the colour commentators admitting to peeing his pants just before the team he's rooting for loses it.

Also, what's with the low-contrast uniforms in that Las Vegas game? That seemed like the dumbest aspect of that video.

Us Montrealers are just happy that the Alouettes actually won it. Finally. TAKE THAT. No matter how dirty it was, we don't care.

Saw that on sportscenter op.  I feel so bad for any fan of that team.   I would be so furious if I was one of them.

they were losing with insurmountable odds against them. they though hey, we go for two, maybe we have a chance with at least a 3 point field goal at the end of the game. they had no clue they'd actually score again

@TwoOneFive: Yeah, the field also has an extra 10 yards in length, and an extra 12 yards and 1 foot in width. (CFL = 110x65, NFL = 100x53.333)

Also, you concede a point if you get a touchback, also there are 3 downs.

Actually, there's quite a few differences.
