After three long years of annoyances, I finally got my braces off. So I thought I'd ask how many of you also had to have them. If so, how long?
Have you ever had to have braces before?
Never have. I've only got one tooth that's misaligned a little but apart from that they're grand.
Tell me, when you got them removed, did you constantly lick your teeth and started eating an apple?
I haven't had them. My teeth were actually really straight until recently when my wisdom teeth kind of jacked them up a little. They're not bad, but I think I should get braces now.
" Never have. I've only got one tooth that's misaligned a little but apart from that they're grand. Tell me, when you got them removed, did you constantly lick your teeth and started eating an apple? "Hah. Yeah, I totally did. You have no idea how badly I want a candy apple right now.
Yes, I had them for a little over two years; from the summer before senior year of high school through the first semester of my second year of college.
When I was younger (late grade school to junior high), I had these hardcore motherfuckers in my mouth:
Once those were removed, they wanted me to wear a retainer to keep the gap wide. As revenge for that oral raping, I never even touched the retainer, and over the last few years, I've reversed everything they corrected, I even have my little sidebite back. I don't care, perfect teeth look strange anyway.
Luckily, no one could actually see these, but they were so hard to forget about, my tongue constantly was fiddling with it, and eating food was horrifying. Couldn't even swallow for a day or two after they were installed. Or talk, really.
And those fuckers at the orthodontics office said i needed proper braces too. I told them that they've wasted enough of our family's money, and my teeth were fine. Never saw 'em again.
No braces no retainers. I'm thinking about getting some sort of invisible braces to fix some alignment issues, but I'm not doing it unless its invisible.
" @XII_Sniper: I am now thankful for only having a slight overbite. That looks horrible. "
Hahah yeah, I think my parents didn't like me as a child too much.
Also overbites aren't that bad, my bottom row of teeth are basically shifted half a tooth's width to the left, which also isn't a big deal.
@XII_Sniper: I had one of those when I was in 8th grade, before I got braces. They wanted to just keep the thing in there after my teeth were widened, to keep them in position until I got the braces, so I broke it on purpose that I could just have a retainer. Eating was a nightmare--anything and everything would get stuck between it and the roof of my mouth. I would have to excuse myself to the bathroom to do this horrifying and forceful exhaling of breath to get chewed-up soggy bits of food out from there.
I hated it so much.
