If everyone started to make the same thread over and over again all it'll do is create clutter on the forums. So the best thing to do is just continue the conversation from an earlier thread (as long as your post is relevant to some degree). I'm speaking ...

  • Well that's refreshing point of view. No matter what you think though there's always going to be someone who thinks the game/series is terrible regardless of how many fans there are. Anyway, I just say games are either overated or not for me.

@Linkyshinks: But the classic controller is so iconic! I'm even wearing a t-shirt with it right now (even though they've got the d-pad wrong). What's your gripe with it anyway? I would admit it does feel a little off whenever I use it. Maybe because it's too straight, I'm not so sure.

EA's already too big. As for Pandemic, it's a little sad but I think it's about time they should change. They're not as good as they used to be.

@Rallier: That's strange. It's a minor issue but no harm in bringing it up I guess.  On a side note, I'm using Firefox 3.5.5. Windows XP Home Edition SP2.  Edit: Aha! I just checked again and I'm getting this error as well.

Oh no. 15+5. 4x5. 40/2. It doesn't matter how you put it, I'm twenty. 20! That's one year closer to the grave. I've already got silver hair, arithritiis and soon enough I'm going to look like a random bag of tits.

That aside, I've been playing a lot of old games recently. I've got Deus Ex running on Normal difficulty. So far I havn't killed anyone bar 2 NSF soldier\s who were standing
" I wanted orange! It gave me lemon-lime."
" I wanted orange! It gave me lemon-lime."
a little to close a certain power generator that decided to blow up instead of shutting down like I hoped it would. Even playing through it for the 26th time, that game never gets old. Sure, the A.I. can't tell the difference between a homeless guy and a heavily augmented UNATCO agent, no one ever puts skill points into swimming, and we never got to see Hermann's mythical skull-gun. I plan on finishing it with minimum casualties as I always have been. I'm pretty excited for Deus Ex 3, hopefully it won't be terrible as Invisible War.

I've just finished Thief 2, one of my all time favourites. Who should've known that a game that involves you running around like
Tiles. The #1 enemy for thieves.

wuss, not killing anyone and nicking all of their shit is so much fun? No wonder people turn to a life of crime. Many years later, Thief 2 is a game that I still find immersive. The atmosphere, the story and the gamplay make it a rewarding prospect to fly through. Such choices could lead to wealth or ruin. Should you climb through the 2nd floor window or lockpick the backdoor? Complete the main objectives and flee or stick around for more precious loot? Either way, the game encourages replayability and that is probably the most successful aspects of the game. I just hope Thief 4 (or Thi4f as they call it) would live up to this game.

On the PSP I've gave Gran Turismo PSP a whirl. I've got to admit, that's a fucking smooth framerate Polyphony Digital managed to get on that little brick. The game's
 Pretty, but could be funner.

pretty indentical to GT4 for the PS2. Of course, perhaps the biggest difference is the fact that there's no Career mode, the very hallmark of the GT series, gone. Instead, credits are attained by simply performing races or driving lessons so you can buy new cars to perform more races and earn more credits so you can buy new cars to perform more races to earn more credits so you can buy...etc. Speaking of cars, there is a LOT of them. However, much like the previous iterations of GT, you'll often find that there's over 15 (slighty) different models of the same car, primarily Japanese cars like the Nissan Skyline or the Mazda RX-7. It's just uncessary and silly. If that wasn't bad enough, you'll only get another 3 opponents in all the races. 3 measly opponents. Not everything is bad though, the cars handle a lot more differently then it did previously, it doesn't feel as stiff so it's easier to drift, which is pertty fun in the new Drift mode if you've got the right car. I could say a lot more but I highly doubt anyone's going to read this.

What next? Grand Theft Auto Chinatown Wars for the PSP. I just picked this up yesterday and damn it's great fun. It still retains the birds-eye perspective that it had on the DS version as opposed to the third person view that Vice City Stories and Liberty City Stories had. I'm glad they did, it had that retro feel to it that reminded me of the first GTA games. I can't decide wheter I like the main character, Huang. He's not a bad guy really (well he's an arse actually) but my main gripe is that he's an idiot. And I mean a proper total idiot. He doesn't seem to realise he's been taking advantage of but he does fuck all about it. Combat's a little fiddly but overall it's joy to play. Scratch cards, drug dealing and hotwiring are among the minigames that are found in the game that came over from the DS version. Some minigames aren't a great translation but it's sufficient enough to well in them. Much like the DS version though, you can easily make a lot of money from drug dealing, almost too easily.

So that's my recent life (not that you care). Shit that's big blog I wrote. It's funny what depression on your birthday will make you do.

Edit: I should mention that I've recently tried out Left 4 Dead with bots and I really enjoyed it. I don't have any friends on Steam to play it with but you think I should still buy it?

And the creativity it brings to the table. It's been a while since I've made anything so big, so why not make a cottage pie? I actually made two of these but I got bored with the second one so I decided to spice it up with some petit pois. What did it taste like? Rather salty if I'm honest.

(Sorry for the shitty quality of the picture, I had to use my phone and the other pie was getting a little too hot for it's own good).

After reading Jeff's review about The Williams Collection Pinball game it must've of sparked off a connection in the little head of mine. I remember playing a great pinball game on my PC years ago. So with the processing power of Google and five minutes of my time I've found it. Pinball Fantasy! Anyone else here remember this game at all?

Another great thing, it's abandonware now so it's free to get it. You need to work out DOSBox to play it though. I've just played it again, I'm happy to say it hasn't changed since I last played it.

No matter how harsh the Irish weather may be it certainly isn't going to stop me from buying my PS3. I had only saved so much money and I had just got into college that I thought I should treat myself. Afterall, with the weather getting shittier, what else is there to do than stay in and play videogames? (as I've been doing all summer). So ladies and germs, here is my 120GB PS3 Slim which I picked up at GAME for €395 (I'll explain the price in a minute).

I would like to point out a very important fact though, despite it being advertised as "33% smaller and 36% lighter" it is by no means, very light. It's heavy, very heavy. So heavy, my hands are raw from carrying the damn thing. So if you're planning on buying one, make sure you bring a big bag!

It may not have the gloss finish or the stupid letters plastered in the front of it but I've taken a shine to it. It looks a lot better in real life than the pictures. Also, it has proper pushy pushy buttons on it rather than the touch sensitive buttons on the fat one. They feel grand so no complaints here.

It's true, it does stand and it can take some tolerance. (But the fact that I'm still breaking out in a cold sweat tells me I shouldn't stand it up). I've tried using the PS2 stand on it. It doesn't help...

It's what you'd expect really, smaller, lighter(-ish), and it should be quieter too apparently. Comes with two USB ports and the usual ports for the HDMI cable and so fourth.

As for the price tag, well, they were selling it for  €299, which came with the console itself with the 120GB hard drive, a controller and one free game but GAME had a special offer of  €395, what did they add? An extra controller worth  €59, and HDMI cable worth €25 and a two year game care plan. Basically it's an insurance thing. If by chance any piece of the hardware breaks due to damage then they'll replace/repair for free over two years. Okay, it did cost €96 more but with the powerful hardware consoles are made out of these days it's worth it over the long term. Better safe than sorry so the saying goes.

So there you go. A PS3 Slim which I bought for  €395. Not bad I say.

Oh. And Sackboy says hi.

PSN: eroticfishcake. I don't have many multiplayer games as of yet but add me if you feel the need to. (If you're from GB then plese tell me, your username on GB aswell would help since I'm getting confuddled with the amount of people I know).
