oh because in order to NOT be pop corn entertainment (which to be honest, usually sucks) you have to have a fucked up ending where everyone dies that you invested in during the entire film, leaving you sad and pissed off. yeah, sounds like a great ending.  "
If he wanted to make a point, he would of ended it realistically driving the point home.   I'm not saying movies need unhappy endings, i'm saying that for the points THIS film was trying to make, if it was serious it would of been to its benefit to finish that way. Instead of being   "YAY we can fight back against the corporations!  Oh happy days sunshine and rainbows, i made a difference to the environment by simply watching this movie!"  If this movie wanted to make an actual difference it would of been better to enrage and rally the audience to a cause, as opposed to finishing everything up happily thus closing it off. "
i'm pretty sure they did MORE than enough to rage and rally the audience by making selfridge and quaritch out to be the biggest asshole and destroying and burning down their home and killing innocent people "
It wasnt enough.   Movies over, the good guys won, feel good about it, resume your life.   It's a story that has been told over and over again in the exactly the same way. Sure the characterisation helped put the message across, using the most shallow method of storytelling. But the overall message doesnt feel like it has any real meaning when the movie is closed up and resolved so smoothly.  Popcorn for everyone.  I'm not saying it was a bad movie, i enjoyed it. It's just not to be taken seriously as making any kind of statement. It's all about the fun escapism and the GRAPHX. "
well it made really good statements regarding the environment, war, and greed. sure they werent so amazingly cleverly done, they were pretty straight forward messages, but for the masses and the mainstream audiences, they were pretty powerful. got to look at this thing globally, clearly by the amount it has grossed, it has made great connection with audiences.

Now I'm going to be blunt, for a moment. Why don't you suck Cameron's cock a little more, eh?

Heh. And also, @TwoOneFive, I totally do not feel the same way about the movie as you do, and you need to get over it.It played it out so that the Native Americans won, and we all know they didn't, nor will they ever. Also, i'd like to quote this moment:  @TwoOneFive said:

"  And btw, i didnt know you could be a fanboy of a movie... maybe a particular actor or director or studio... "

This goes beyond stupid replies. Why on Earth (or Pandora, or under James Cameron's bed, or wherever the fuck you live) could you not be a fanboy of a movie? Is there some rule saying that you can only be fanboys of studios or actors? Um, let me think... No, there is not.

In conclusion, I don't want a flaming war with mr. 215 here, and I respect your opinion. I do not respect your opinion on my opinion. Also, it didn't gross millions because people wanted to see a great message about the environment, it grossed millions because it looks fucking amazing in 3d, and it's a touchstone for all entertainment currently.

That is all, fine sir.

@TwoOneFive: The hell you say, I've been here from the start as well and haven't hesitated on calling out any of your unintelligent, badly spelled, fanboy fueled excuses for posts when I feel need be.
Hell, I've even gotten PMs from people who are too pussy to say shit out loud about the diarrhea you post.
Implying that Avatar works on any kind of intellectual level is ludicrous. It's a pretty showcase vomiting out one of the most rudimentary stories ever presented in the simplest form possible and garnished with explosions, stereotypes and a "hawt babe".

By the way, just cause something has grossed a lot of money doesn't mean it's good. Revenge Of the Fallen earned a shitload of money, but if memory serves me correctly, you thought that was a good movie too.

nuke is the best way to go, that or some kind of super naplam...

have the robots get the unobtanium after that, mission complete.

rants galore...
-the general in the actual movie telling Jake Scully that everything is super dangerous on Pandore and then attacking the Tree village with helicopters, robots AND FOOT SOLDIERS !!!!!
-waking from a "5 year cryo sleep/deep space flight" to end up in a meeting with the company manager telling everyone that he needs results in 3 months or the company's stock will go down...
-white american soldier become a better Navi then their best warriors in a matter of days / weeks...

Folks, this has gone so far off the rails that it's actually made a round trip! This blog wasn't in anyway meant to defame the movie or Cameron as a whole but only to poke some light-hearted fun at the story.

It took me a super long time to make this comic, and I posted it here for it to be appreciated, not so you all could have angry rants about the movie. I couldn't care at all if you liked the movie or hated it.

I simply wanted acknowledgment for the comic and my talents as an artist.

If you want to debate or complain about the movie then start your own thread, and take it over there. Don't bring it here, this bickering stops now.

i had no idea you made the comic, i totally missed that in your post. Sorry dude, i would have had a totally different opinion on this matter, I thought it was something you found on a website where they make these all the time!  I guess that wouldn't really make a difference, but I actually think you did a decent job with the comic. I just think the ending of the movie was perfectly fine.

No, I never liked that movie, you guys are getting me confused with LiquidPrince. He's the Transformers guy on here.
Look you guys are getting way to fired up and serious about this.
I pick on LiquidPrince about like transformers 2 (sorry for sucking you into this retarded argument or whatever). But you guys have it out to blast anyone with a positive opinion about Avatar.
Also, again, I replied to Teflon through the pm by accident...If people are seriously sending you PM's about me, they need to get a fucking life. I don't take anything on these forums that serious. I just come on here on my spare time throughout the day to shoot the shit. I'm not here to get fucking worked up over what somebody who i know nothing about said.

I agree, without the bombastic ridiculous action scene at the end I would have sat through 2 hours of bullshit for nothing.

@TwoOneFive: Hey, I told both of them that if they have a problem with something then nut up.
I'm not here to bitch out people, I'm here to bitch out what I find to be stupid posts. And I find any post saying that Avatar was anything more than a fantastic tech demo to be below stupid. It was a great spectacle to witness and I advise people to watch it in the cinema while they can.
Granted it wasn't insulting like Revenge Of The Fallen and I apologize for assuming you liked that black hole of quality, but criminy.
These two vids sum up my feelings about Avatar perfectly

cool, so i'll liken you too a grumpy old ass man who is incapable of enjoying anything for now on. lol jk
i dunno man, i think titanic is a fantastic movie. and avatar wsa pretty good, and the visuals alone were worth the admission. it was a blast to watch, and i didn't get over analytical about the plot. - oh and i have never seen dances with wolves. so maybe if i did i could be like "oh wtf this is just the same as that movie but in space and with aliens instead of indians, wah this angers me".
titanic on the other hand is just very entertaining to me. i can only watch it once in a while but when i do i cant help but leave it on if im just flckin through channels.

Oh yeah, Titanic will always have a special place in my heart since this chick I saw it with at the cinema as a kid stroked my schlong during it.
On top of pants though, but when you're 14 that's fucking amazing.

The marines probably wouldn't have nukes. They're more PMCs than actual army.

Because  of the escapism and graphx.

And because the guy knows how to make a good movie.

Dont have it confused that the half assed points he tried to make were what made this a good movie, it's easily the weakest link.

Also, people are fucking dumb. Look how much any michael bay movie grosses compared to any modern classic which is critically acclaimed.
