How was Jason hired?

I know Dan and Jason both worked togheter before joining Giant Bomb. But how come both were hired at once?

Were they both fired, or Jason quit to follow Dan? I was always curios but cant find the answer.

It's been pretty well-documented that Jason is Dan's handler.

They actually just wanted to hire Jason, but Game Informer forced them to take Dan as well.

Actually, somewhere there's a forum post on NEOGaf that says he hired Jason separately from Jeff hiring Dan. Apparently it was a total coincidence.

They needed a video guy to replace Vinny.

I think you meant to say, "in addition to Vinny." Nobody replaces Vinny - I would put Jason at Vinny-tier though.

In truth they hired Jason to be the voice of reason when Brad plays a soulsgame and Dan just showed up.

It was a coincidence. They both happened to apply for different positions here without telling each other.

They went to a casting together. They had this very good thing going on and the director decided that they should hire them both and just rewrite the script for them.

The only reason it seems weird is because they came from the same previous job. Jason is a great fit and he seems to be pretty good at his job too.

Jeff hired Dan and Vinny hired Jason I'm pretty sure. It sounds like a big coincidence - Dan said on tumblr once that he was happy when he heard Jason was also coming so I don't think they knew each other had applied.

They were both perfect fits for what they were looking for. Maybe Dan put in a good word for Jason at some point, since Ryckert knew these guys ahead of time.

Coming to a new city with someone you know was just a bonus.

Jason should be involved in more QL's i'm sure he will gradually merge over more and more like Vinny and Drew did. Dan & Jason pick up was a good thing for GB, still miss Vinny being with the guys on the West though.

Legally, Dan cannot be over 500 away feet of Jason.

I have a feeling Jason and Dan did know that they were both applying (or at least one of them mentioned it to the other) but sounds like it was a happy coincidence. Vinny brought him in to work with Drew as he was moving away (so there's always at least one guy running the broadcast), while Jeff hired Dan as an editor. Though I'm still more than willing to believe that Jason is the only person truly able to control Dan.

Dan needed his organ grinder.

He was the most qualified man for the job.

Well Jeff was throwing a going away kegger for vinny! He invited his pal Jason to the party and they all were having a great time. Dan stumbled into the party and was a big hit because of his ridiculous actions and antics he was up to after many beers in. Jeff thought Dan was all right and let him crash at his place. the rest, as they say, is history.
