I'm... kind of tempted to actually use IE9

They did the smartest thing they could do really and got a Hulu ad spot, so I've been bombarded with that while streaming Misfits.

But from glimpses of the browser interface, coupled with recent views from the Bombcast, it seems like it might not actually be a horrible product.

And now, my whole life feels like a lie.

Someone slap this man, he needs it.

I use internet explorer. Not sure what number it is but it works fine for me.

Just playin. IE9 is much better than previous versions. Not my taste personally but nothing really wrong with it either...

With things like Chrome or Firefox it just doesn't make sense to use any internet explorer. Even if IE9 is better than previous ones it still isn't as good as either of the previously mentioned ones.

Go for it. I guess. If you must. I'll stick with Chrome, thank you very much, but you should be fine.

Even if Firefox and Chrome supporters can't see eye to eye on what the best browser is... I think the only one thing everyone on the internet is united about is that well... IE is still crap and while IE9 and IE10 are decidedly LESS crappy its still not on the same level as Chrome or Firefox. Mostly Chrome because everyone knows Chrome is where its at. ;D

why not just use IE 10 then.

Hmm, messed around with it a little. It's pretty damn fast, seems faster than chrome actually. I recently tried to work things out with Firefox, after about a year using chrome, and fuck firefox. Slow to startup, slow to close out the process so I can restart, takes too much customization to setup the way I expect a browser to be these days, loved that browser for years but time passed it by. And whatever, if google wants my search data so bad, fine, someone else make a better product. I'll probably just use IE if I ever get fed up with chrome so thanks for the pitch man.

IE has gotten a lot better, but I'm a diehard Firefox user and nothing is going to change that.

There's nothing wrong with IE9. Security was shown to be better than Safari and just as good as Chrome in a few professional security tests.

IE7 had some glaring issues, but 8 and 9 were both perfectly good browsers. A lot of the stigma is either carried over from 7, or just hearsay repeated by the type of people who "want to use one of those internet things, but not the Microsoft internet thing."

I don't use it because I'm on a Mac and because I like seamless download managers, but I say if you want to, go for it.

Sure use it but it's still not as good as Chrome or Firefox. I've dabbled with it for a while. It's OK.

As a web developer, I can say I no longer have to completely rebuild the website so it looks okay in ie9 like I have to do for 7 and lesser so 8. (I refuse to develop for 6 anymore) Having said that, fuck IE. It should be put in a corner with a dunce cap for its past browsers.

I use Opera because IE, Chrome, and Fire Fox crash my PC.

Not a bad browser, but I don't care for the aesthetic. If I could get a skin that got rid of the blue accents (and was actually looking to switch browsers from Chrome) I could live with it.

Now I understand why people clapped at the IE announcement @ E3...

I hate to admit this, but I use IE9 sometimes. BUT THAT IS ONLY WHEN CHROME IS NOT WORKING I SWEAR!

I would love someone to explain to me why IE sucks so bad besides the age old fight of taking sides since the monopoly days of Microsoft and Netscape...

I used IE 9 and have absolutely no problems with it.

It's fast and stable, doesn't crash like Firefox seems to do every minute and a half.

The only downside for me is that Giant Bomb sucks with it and makes posting my golden rambles such as this damn near impossible which is why I use Chrome mostly now.

Besides the fact that Chrome also suits me better since I have an Android tablet.

Seems like hating any MS browser is just the way to be.

IE might be better, but its not the best.

I don't think its actually that bad. Its also got better type rendering than chrome on windows does. If chrome stopped getting updates tomorrow I'd consider using it over firefox.

Don't really see why you had to make a topic about it, there is nothing to it but to do it. Try it, i can probably browse the web just fine. No one will hate your for it.

@Franstone: Because Microsoft, until very very recently, refused to abide by the web standards put in place by the W3C and other similar organizations, so it forces web developers to spend 40-65% of their development time just to make it function correctly in Internet Explorer. Granted with IE9 they finally decided to play by *most* of these rules, and IE10 is an even bigger step in the right direction. But I believe IE is hated among web developers, and that just trickles into the common publics thoughts. It also didn't help that IE 6 and 7 were just security and functionality nightmares.

Edit: Proof of this fact is very much what you said. The percentage of Giant Bomb users using IE isn't even enough for them to work with it. (I'm not just assuming, they've mentioned this before) For chrome, firefox, safari, and opera you basically create the website and it works *close* to flawlessly on all those platforms. Then you have to start coding for IE...

I'm a web designer, and for the sake of me and all of my brethren, DON'T YOU FUCKING DARE. I cannot tell you how many times Ive had sites work damn perfectly on every damn browser in existence and then it looks like shit once you put in on IE. How can a company which has so much money put so much little effort in making a goddamn browser even after all the years and criticism is beyond me. And yes that includes IE9, goddamn piece of shit still has issues after all these years and all of these updates. Seriously fuck that browser.

I like IE9 better than Firefox but not as much as I like Chrome. It's pretty solid.

As much as I rely on Chrome on a regular basis, I do switch to IE9 from time to time when I'm up to web development and I'm checking out compatibility across browsers. IE9 lets you roll back to display pages as if it were IE8 or IE7 so I like to check that out when I'm doing web development just to double check that I'm not making web pages that would appear catastrophic to people are aren't in tune with modern browsers.

I've read about those issues in the past but seeing how I'm not a web developer I wasn't really thinking about that side of the coin.
