I'm not with you. They are awesome in HD. Maybe you didn't see them in HD but there are much worse options to go with. Sony TVs are like the Bose of TVs, very nice, but also very overpriced.
have you compare it with other brands?" Its you, i have two Samsung HDTV's and they work like a charm. "
and yes JJ i see it in HD and look inferior to other brands.
Yeah i have compared to Philips, LG and Pioneer. And my series 8 46" Samsung looks very clear and the colors just pop. Plus the black levels on it are really good and comparing my Series 8 to my older 32" series 5 there is a world of difference in picture quality." @pornstorestiffi said:

Oh also did you even calibrate your TV?
Panasonic makes good Plasma TV.
As for LCD TV, Sharp>Toshiba>Sony>everyone else
However, you need to be in Japan to see their full glory(or import them straight from Japan). They don't sell their best models outside Japan.
Sorry but it's you.

Sharp use Loewe image processors. To all intents and purposes the AQUOS is a Loewe with slightly cheaper Toshiba panel. It's also priced like the Loewe or pretty close to. The best TVs in general are Loewe. Always have and I'd guess always will be. My 32" CRT Loewe still gives a great picture, regardless of input source. It can do 480p but that's it. It also still has one of the smoothest IVTC/3:2 Pulldown image processors around which can make any source look like it's progressive.
The best value for money LCD TVs are Samsung and in many cases they beat many more expensive models, especially om the 100hz range because Samsung uses high grade panels and quality image processors with seriously lovely motion smoothing. Lastly, Samsung are one of the few LCD TV manufacturers whose TVs actually work properly as DVI/HDMI monitors and do not produce overscan or colour banding, which pretty much all other manufacturers aside from Loewe, Sharp and Panasonic, do.
Sony LCD TV's are shit for the price.
Sorry but it's you. That's definitely up for debate, it depends on what Samsung he was seeing. There are better panels.
@SeriouslyNow:
I never even heard of Loewe but looking it up on the net I get some sense of what they do. What kind of LCD panels do they make, are they TN, IPS, PVA? I see some people praise them, but never any tech discussion. I'll assume they're not the Bose of TV makers... Is your 32" Loewe not a HDTV? CRT HDTVs are the best HDTVs in general, but I assume that some day that will no longer be true.

I've never heard of Loewe, either. I guess they don't sell their products in Asia?
Samsung LCD TVs cost almost as much as Sony's where I live. Not sure about TV but for LCD monitors, I agree with the statement that Samsung has the best value for money.
For me Samsung are the best but like any brand it all depends on which model you get. Samsung certainly have some sub par sets in there range but the top of the line LED back lit LCD's are the best on the market in my opinion.

The Loewe brand is an expensive brand based on quality. The 32" and 42" Xelos CRT models were used in Television production studios the world over as part of vision mixing and editing suites prior to the shift to HD. Their CRT models gave an even better picture (sharpness, detail, movement smoothness) than any other brand of the day, including Sony whose Trinitron and Aperture Grille technologies made them a pretty good competitor back then. And no Loewe aren't the Bose of TVs that would Blaupunkt.
The Samsung uses an S-PVA panel from memory.
I can understand why some people haven't heard of Loewe ("lur ve") because my old Xelos cost almost $3400 US!

I don't think they sell 100% Loewe TVs in the US at all right? It sounds like their CRTs really were top tier (using curved screens? cool) but I don't really see anything substantial about the quality of their LCDs or plasmas. So you don't really know what kind of panels they have on the Loewe LCDs? It sounds like the highest end CRT Sony offerings were comparable depending on what you were looking at. I just have a mid-level Sony Trinitron HDTV.I have two TVs - my old one is Loewe Xelos 32" and my recent TV is a Samsung series 5 32"
