So november is the start of NaNoWriMo, for those unaware it stands for National Novel Writing Month. In which you write a novel in the space of the month of November, you can track your progress on the official website and submit it when its done, if its more than 50,000 words you are entered in a chance to win the competition.

Although I don't see it as a competition, I see it as an excuse to write a novel, I used to write a lot but over the past few years lost it somewhere. Here is a link to the site and below is a cool promotional video.

NOTE - The original topic vanished so I created it again.

I'll just submit all the written work I've done in the wiki compressed into one....what an awesome novel.

I heard about this... from a friend. Sounds like a fun stress-free task to take on, but I'm not fond of writing.

NanoWrimo.  Needs another Nano in the title
Then it could be NanoNano wrimo, which rhymes with sticky our head in doo doo.  When I used to write alot I tried this once.  Made it to 5000 words...

Really?

Can I write in french?

But, really, 50 000 words is a lot to write in one month. For me, at least.

Kudos to anyone that writes 50,000! I didn't make it there last year, but the writing exercise was worth it.

I got about a 1,000 words in to a cheesy detective novel before school hit me and I had to stop. I don't know if I'll be trying again this year. I find 50,000 words to be a pretty tough target to hit, but good luck to those who try and good job to those that manage it!

I'm hoping to surpass 10K words this year. Don't know if I'll manage it, but hey, it's worth a shot.

I have tried to do it before but haven't been able to stick with it long enough. I'm hoping one year I'll be able to do it.

I wanted to make a topic about it one of these days!

I'm signing up in any case, got some great ideas and I want to train/test myself!

I've always wanted to do it, but I wouldn't have a clue what to write about. I have some vague idea's, but nothing detailed enough to write a novel.

I write for a living and 50k words sounds like too much work. I don't write stories though.

If you are serious about writing, this is a huge waste of time. Nothing you write in a month is going to get you any money unless you are a prodigy or a savant. I know this is supposed to motivate people and inspire them, but more often than not it ends up frustrating and discouraging them. Nothing stifles creativity like a deadline, and most of the time you end of hating what you've written because you've had to rush it like crazy. If you want to write a novel, just write a novel.
