So I'll be gettinga new phone soon, and I need some suggestions. Despite the wonders of Apple's iphone, I still think it's mostly a gimmicky piece of shit. However, I would like a phone that is advanced in that kind of way, like some with the Android OS.

Hey Guys im in the same boat, though im from the UK. Its between the iPhone, Android (Hero, Nexus One) or even a blackberry for the BBM. Anyone know what the iPhone battery life is like after a good use?

I recommend the Nexus One if you want an Android phone. If that's out of the question for whatever reason, then get the Droid.

I've got a HTC Hero myself, and it does everything I need it to. It can be a bit slow at times, though.

I have the Samsung Moment with Android, and it's a dream to use.  I love me some Android.

Also, my brother has the HTC Hero, and that's pretty slick too, but I prefer having a physical keyboard.

I have the Hero and I love it, very nice phone. However I think HTC is coming out with a new Android phone soonish, so maybe you could look into that.

I have an Iphone 3GS. Your preconception regarding the phone doesn't suit it. Yeah, its not open source, and you have to do everything through Itunes for your phone. But its the best damn phone on the market right now. If you have the ability to get the Iphone 3GS, I would very much recommend it.

HTC Dream or HTC Magic. DON'T GET A WINDOWS MOBILE PHONE. DO NOT. Windows Mobile is pig disgusting and slow as shit.

I have a 3GS and it's alright, I mean I like it. I don't like having to use iTunes, but I'm warming up to it.

I sell phones and I think blackberry makes the best equipment.  Very good signal reception, call and sound quality are great, easy to get apps and very good support if you have any software problems.  HTC has come a long way too, HTC Touch Pro 2 is a very nice phone and the newest HTC that we carry, However it has Windows mobile and I am not a fan of that.

How is it not gimmicky? It doesn't do anything special, and almost all phones have apps. Besides, you'd be stuck on AT&T's piece of shit network.

If you get good coverage with T-Mobile, I'd recommend the Nexus One. It's a very fast, smooth and fun phone. Sure the apps aren't there, but you can listen to Pandora and read your texts/emails on the same time with that thing. Try to do that on an iPhone.

I suggest waiting a lil while and get the Nexus One.
