Are we getting screwed or what?
PC gamers
Ofc, we're getting horrible ports of games that are mostly developed for console. Resulting in an unstable often un-playable environment (weird frame rate issues, texture popins etc). The game that worked best for my PC this year is BF3. I wish there where more PC exclusives out there.
Lol, not even close. The game that worked best for my PC this year is BF3
Witcher 2 and Portal 2 IMO ran the greatest on PC.
@AhmadMetallic: ... darn now I feel like a retard. You're right, Portal 2 worked awesome but let's face it it's based on an old engine that starts to look dated... LOOK dated, the feel is still awesome. And yes the Witcher 2 works better on my PC than bf3 ;P. It will be interesting to see that game on 360.
No? I mean, I have almost 30 games in my Steam library, and I haven't spent any money whatsoever. That's hardly the definition of "screwed".
Screwed with all the console ports that look and play better? Screwed with all the untapped potential of our $200-700 video card? Screwed with the quality free to play and ridiculously cheap quality indie games? Screwed by the great Steam sales adding to your hopeless backlog?
Yes, to all of those.
Not as bad as we used to get it a few short years ago, but it's still far away from being great. The biggest thing for me at the moment, out side of idiots like Ubisoft and their DRM shit, is how developers are being extremely lazy when it comes to designing a UI/control scheme that works with a mouse and keyboard and are instead just expecting people to plug in a controller. No thanks game devs. I despise playing games with a controller and come to PC because I prefer mouse and keyboard controls to a controller. If you can't take the time to make the game playable with a mouse and keyboard instead of just remapping the console controls to a few keyboard keys then I won't be playing your games.
People like to bitch about poor controls for ports. Fools need to use more skill.
At the moment the best experience for most multi-platform games is on the PC.
Sure my video card could be used a bit better, as could my extra RAM, but for the most part I can't look at console versions of games without wincing.
As far as I can think (and I'm hugely biased so I'm not trying particularly hard) the only advantage consoles have over PC is that the control scheme allows you to lie down or lay back.
Neither of which makes up for the limited controller and outdated hardware.
I'm familiar with the benefits of having a pc ofc ^^ Like all the wonderful steam sales, hell I bought a couple of games this week on steam. I'm happy that some of you guys managed to open my eyes up a bit =). BUT, (here comes the but) when I look at my PS3 (a console I paid 4000KR (350:- dollars (lots of () here)) for) I can't help but feel robed when I look at my PC... I recently upgraded it for about 800 dollars, and only SOME games work awesome. I dunno, maybe it's just me being ignorant or something. I guess it's hard for developers to optimize a PC game to all hardware that comes out... what? every second?
@bio595: If you have a game designed for a controller, there are many reasons to use it. However, you might as well just plug one into your usb drive
It's getting better, I think. A few years ago PCs didn't have power to spare to run poorly optimized ports. Now a decent PC can just swallow whatever garbage code they throw out and spit out a smoother, better looking, 1080p version of the console game onto my television. Devs seem to be getting better about realizing that I've hooked up a gamepad to my pc. Progress!
Meanwhile developers continue to release titles on a regular basis into the niches PC games have always occupied. With the possible exception of space sims and mech sims. I wouldn't mind one of thems.

This. I love a game when it is designed for K+M. I love a game when it is designed for a controller. I of course love both imputs on my PC, even when using my 56" tv as a monitor. Or for that matter at the moment, my Mitsubushi Diamond Pro crt 20" moniter with high res.....
