My mum is 50 today, is that not depressing!? She'll be dead in a few years!

A few years? Did we time travel back a few centuries? I think she'll live many, many more years.
Also, aging is not depressing. People slowly getting fatter and fatter, at least in the U.S., now that's some depressing shit.
It's not just sad when you see your parents getting to the age that you remember your grandparents at, but it's sad to see your much younger siblings get older -- or the constant reminder when you see people you grew up watching on television or movies or playing music and you realize suddenly that they're in their 60s. And, next thing you know, so are you. Ugh. I just hope I get a lot more FPS and reflex gaming in before then.

My great-grandmother died when she was 103. Your mum will be fine.
Do you still live near that guy with a horse in his house?

Haha, that was the family who were really rough but had a nice looking baby, which then grew up and started chasing cars.

LOL, genius.
The single most gratifying benefit of aging is knowing that all you young whippersnappers will get old, too.
A few years and in between 1-5 years, or what? Because if she dies at 55 then that sure is depressing
50 isn't really that old. People really start to get old nowadays in their late 60s. You'll see, you'll go away come back and think "damn, my mom looks like an old lady".
Also, your mom is already dead and was replaced with a bodysnatcher. Deal with it.
Some things in life are bad, they can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse
When you're chewing on life's gristle, don't grumble give a whistle
This will help things turn out for the best

50 and dead in a few years?
Are you, like, planning to kill her?
That is... ingenious, good sir.

Few years? She must not be healthy, women are pushing the limits these days as long as they aren't inviting death to dinner. Anyway, I don't see how it's disappointing, but my faith in my religion and future help me to feel better and take every day with new vigor.
When I was 13 my mom was 60....I was scared then cause I knew she wasn't going to be there to see most of my life and help me through it all. Then later I was like fuck that, when she dies I'm getting the house and money in the bank.
