Ted Stevens: They GOT HIM!

If you're not familiar with who he is, he was a very corrupt senator from Alaska. You may remember him describing the internet as a 'series of tubes' or strongly advocating the bridge to nowhere (he actually threatened to resign if his pork was touched). He's been in charge of the appropriations commitie for a long time (which is why Alaska gets so much money from the federal governement despite the fact that it's a very profitable state). He has very strong ties to resource extraction companies and has long worked on their behalf in the government.

Anyway I've always dreamed that he would get caught and he finally did...even though the charges were likely very minimal compared to what he's gotten away with over the last 30 years.

But he faces 5 years per charge, a total of 7 charges. I can't imagine that he would get 35 years. In fact I'm willing to bet he doesn't go to jail at all. 

His sentancing is not until Feb 25th, 2009 and he'll file for an appeal as well.
