...but how to do it right, short of almost a decade's worth of lead-in films, like Marvel did for The Avengers?

I'd love for them to try and push an extremely high prodution quality JLA animation series on something like HBO. Try and make a lead-in animation series setting up the JLA and its characters as a global TV-event. Of course that would be silly, because as of now, no such thing as an international market for TV shows exists really, so it'd be a futile effort, even if such a thing would succeed in the US. Regardless, I'd love to see how that would look like.

IGN has a neat little *what if* article up, regarding this topic, and speculates about a possible Batman/Superman flick, to set things up for a JLA movie - I sure do love their relationship in the JLA stuff I've read and watched.

On that note, what's your favorite JLA-hero, and would you go watch that hero's origin story in theaters?

Martian Manhunter for me. Love that character, and all the Mars fiction that comes with him. And it's a great way to introduce the notion, that there is more to life than just planet earth - to increase the scope and scale of what's at stake.

Much like how the JLA cartoon introduced its universe really. Its pilot was a 3-episode special on a Martian invasion, and introducing Martian Manhunter, as well as a reason for the Earth's heroes to band together in the first place.

You're kind of making huge assumptions that people know what the heck JLA is.

I think it's going to be hard, almost impossible to do what Marvel did with the Avengers. Nobody gave a shit about Green Lantern, Wonder Woman seems to be impossible to get right (seeing as they've tried to get TV series and movies made for a loooong time) and Superman might even suck. The only thing for certain is that people like Batman.

I don't think they'll include anyone not from the current Justice League if they ever do get this thing made. I wouldn't be surprised if it was just Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and The Flash. My favourite is boring... Batman, but I really do hope they just recast as the Bale version doesn't really fit with all of the more magical and alien stuff.

My favorite JLA hero is Aquaman and I would love to see a film of his done justice with a New 52 style about it.

The best bet for DC at this point would be to just do a World's Finest movie, it would probably make just as much money as a Justice League movie. How many ticket sales do they lose for not including The Flash, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman? Superman and Batman together would have the popularity to do just as well if not better then The Avengers.

That said I honestly don't care about DC all that much but would and will see any movies they pump out to theaters because super hero movies are pretty awesome, even when they are bad.

None of them, was never a DC fan really. Batman is cool but that's like a given.

I originally heard they wanted to almost do the reverse of Avengers and do a JLA movie first and then do the separate movies after that. But now with Man of Steel coming out this summer and stuff, who knows. Either way, I don't really care. I wasn't that impressed with Dark Knight Rises and don't really care about Man Of Steel. Good luck to them though haha.

The New 52 stuff has been fantastic so far so yeah, I'd really like a JLA movie. It's a travesty they've cancelled Young Justice and Green Lantern because they were so damn good.

My favorite superhero in general, let alone JLA, is Batman by a wide margin. No one else even comes close.

I'm embarrassed how long it took me to realize that you weren't taking about the current World's Finest. Although, how funny would it be if Power Girl and Huntress got a movie before Wonder Woman?

The issue with DC characters is that they are often "gods playing men". It seems much easier to write up stories and motivations for The Avengers but I have no no idea how to write up a JLA story.

Power Girl will get a porn knock off before she gets a theatrical film.

Whats funny is batman is always thought of as the most Marvel like char in the big hero's of DC.

As for a JLA moving happening...I don't care enough about the hero's to want to see it even made. And with DC forgetting that they are comics and tring to make real dramas out of them like Batman, it very well could suck..."looks at Superman"

Avengers was good for 2 reasons, one they built it up, they got non comic fans to know about a large portion of the heros in the movie before it ever came out. And two, it was a comic book movie. It was fun and never trying to win awards for anything other then being awesome...."Looks at the Batman movies"

Actually, the Injustice comic and several other comics and movies the last few years have demonstrated that Superman can be a really awesome and compelling character. Grant Morrison (very popular Batman writer) wrote a really good story called All-Star Superman that had all the goofy comic tropes while making you really empathize with him. The movie adaptation is excellent and it's on Netflix. And I can't say anything specific about his character development in the Injustice series without huge spoilers but I will say that REALLY succeeded in making you simultaneously really feel for him as a character but also really dislike the actions he's taking. And I think, if Christopher Nolan is involved in the JLA movie (as has been rumored), it could turn out to be really fantastic.

Iron Man was a 2008 release. If you're in some way referring to the Ang Lee Hulk, know that "Phase One"--this run of Marvel films threaded into The Avengers--officially disowns it.

I see your point, though, that parroting the Avengers formula would take much longer for the Justice League, especially if you're clocking the entirety of the Dark Knight Trilogy into the fold.

a justice league movie would be pretty cool. darkseid invading earth, BAM. easy.

i mean you'd need a superman movie, a new batman (nolans wouldnt work in the justice league), green lantern, wonder woman (though i think she'd be the hardest to pull off without being dumb). and maybe aquaman / green arrow / MMH.

you would need at least 3 or 4 build up movies though, and setting up the core 3 of the JL would be absolutely necessary (superman, batman, and wonderwoman).

Marvel does good heroes but shitty villains. DC does shitty heroes but good villains. A Justice League movie won't work at all if it doesn't have a decent bad guy. Batman and/vs. Superman would be boring as shit, because they are the most boring individuals ever created in fiction.

Besides, the only reason you really liked the Avengers is because you wanted to see Robert Downey Jr. spend most of it knocking back whiskies and coming out with one-liners.

It sounds like you haven't read much of Batman. I tend to agree that Superman has been too tame for a long time (though they've been better about it in recent years) Batman has storylines that completely outclass anything done by Marvel. The only Marvel storyline that even comes close to stuff like The Dark Knight Returns, Knightfall, or A Serious House on Serious Earth would maybe be the one resulting in Gwen Stacy's death. And if we're talking DC in general here, Watchmen is DC and is the absolute pinnacle of the genre so far.
