Man I've always wanted to do that. 

I remember watching a bunch of videos about this like four years ago. Still haven't tried doing it.

That does look pretty cool though

The Mythbusters amped that up to the nth degree.   They even tried to lift a dummy with a huge amount of bottles.  I think it was a 5x5 square of bottles.  Needless to say that didn't work out well.

Have you tried it with dry ice? That shit blowing up sounds like a shotgun blast.

The thing to do is to tie a piece of string around a mentos and hang it inside the bottle but don't let it touch the coke, then close the lid and cut off the excess string on the outside, so when someone opens it the mentos falls in and you can die happy.
