    Brief background

Future GPX Cyber Formula (新世紀 GPX サイバーフォーミュラ) was a 37-episode anime released in Japan in 1991. The series was popular enough to receive several spin-offs, including over a decade of video game adaptations. The series is sometimes referred to in the west as Shinseiki GPX Cyber Formula owing to the kanji used in the title, but the furigana given makes it apparent that it's supposed to be read as "Future" in English (フューチャ fyūchā).

True to its name, the series is about futuristic racing. In layman's terms, it's usually broken down to be described as a futuristic, more mature version of Speed Racer.

Only one of the games was released in the west, the Super NES game that was stripped of its license and launched as Cyber Spin.
