A downloadable portal for official emulation of retro video games for the Xbox 360 and PC, featuring offerings from the Atari 2600 and Intellivision as well as early arcade games by Atari and Konami.
This thing doesn't even load. It keeps pausing with the bar a quarter full on the loading screen, while a endless tour of my "arcade" plays in the background. That's some good quality control.
All I wanted was to play some Snafu (which I don't actually think is in there, but it is an awesome Intellivision game with an awesome soundtrack)
You need to sign out of Xbox Live and then open Game Room. You can sign back in once in Game Room but you still can't buy the games. Protip: Jungler kind of sucks.
Yeah, if you load it up while not connected to XBL you can get in, but still won't be able to purchase anything. You can at least have a look around and try out the demo's though.
I think it's kind of neat.. The interface for the GameRoom and the roms themselves are very nice, and for those that keep complaining that most of these games are free elsewhere, there are updated features.. like being able to save, earn awards, do challenges and rewind the games if you screw it up. Still not worth 240 for most of them maybe, but for some of my beloved classics? I'll bite. The customisation makes it a bit more personal too, and having to unlock many themes and items gives them a level of prestige and adds something beyond simple achievements.
I'll be more interested if they add the rumoured NeoGeo games..
