Did anyone feel weird every time they really got into Thrashball? Cos it seems like there is ONE player of the sport in the world, and it is Augustus Cole.

Like-- everyone in the Gears universe who likes Thrashball is a giant Cole Train fan, and never mentions anyone else or any other team. It makes it really obvious that nobody on the Epic team is a football fan, and it got pretty funny.

The idea that Augustus Cole is SO FAMOUS that he's become the face of thrashball for decades and nobody gives a shit about the hundreds of other players and teams is really funny. Except for Baird, who is a Sharks fan, which is the cherry-on-top of the whole thing.

I would actually be interested if they break this rule in the books or whatever, if anyone knows.

There are only three know players of Trashball (According to the Gears Wiki.)... And only Cole got a page. So yeah, that's weird.

    Sorry for my english.

Cole's the main focus, it makes sense we know all about him and not the other teams, who really cares beyond that?
He's a bad ass thrashball player, star of his team and everyone loves him.
Its as cliche as Marcus' non stop anger issues.

Yeah that's a weird conclusion to jump to. This is a game about a war on another planet, you can't expect them to flesh out an entire sports league which really doesn't have any major relevance to anything that's happening.

well, the only time they really talk about it is when cole is around. so its natural they bring him up, since well he was a player.

All I know is that when Cole goes to the Thrashball flashback, is the best thing ever.

Really?? I thought it was extremely corny. I had to stop playing after that.

Because if you're not into sports then you know one or two people, but if you are into sports then you're more interested in teams as a whole, and managers n history and how everything matches up.

I just think it's funny in the same way it's funny when they show videogames on TV and they all have Space Invaders sound effects.

Cole and Baird go through, like, three anecdotes about his time playing against other teams, and it's even revealed that Baird was a fan of the team that was the primary rival of the group Cole played for.

Given the general level of story-telling in Gears, this is kinda a weird plot point to pick up on...

I think Cole is also a hero because he was a football superstar who was one of the first to sign up and fight, and did so very publicly.

It is akin to celebrities signing up during the world wars.

That part takes place in Cole's hometown, so it only makes sense that he's a big star there.

I almost wish they would flesh out the Thrashball part a little bit. At least give a few more teams. Is there a team that perpetually loses in the most heartbreaking ways (like the Browns)? I could totally get behind them lol.
