First Girl Fight Footage

#1 Posted by FluxWaveZ (19308 posts) -

New info:

  • Roster will consist of 8 fighters.
  • They're customizable with 8 "psi-amp abilities" to fit the player's playstyle.
  • Game's been in development for only 6 months; started as a passion project.
  • In-game economy by the name of "Combits" (?) which are gained every time the player executes moves successfully. These points are used to buy extra abilities, "bio entries for the girls that really flesh out their stories", skins/costumes and artwork.
  • Online system called the "Wager System" that gives players random challenges before a match (such as win a round only using throws) that rewards players who complete them with Combits.
  • Game's coming in late spring to XBLA and PSN for under $20.
  • All women have special psionic abilities.

Game looks pretty bland. I liked the "Choose your X-Men power to fight" thing, but i dunno. Maybe i will buy it, Rumble Roses gave me a hell of a good time with some friends and i can see this being pretty similar.

I hear if you push up, down, up, down, left, right, a+start all the female fighters get naked.

...come on you know something fucking dumb like that will be in this game! Did you see the box art!?!?!?

turning invisible in fighting games is stupid....just saying

So, this looks pretty terrible. I love how the man in the video seemed so enthusiastic about the quality of the product.

You are very.. interested in this really bad looking game...

#7 Posted by TooWalrus (13136 posts) -

Huh, I had no idea this existed until now. It's a fighting game, who's schtick is that it's all girls? The comparisons to Skullgirls must be everywhere, eh? I'll keep an eye on this, but the video didn't really leave any impression on me.

And now we just sit back and wait for the sexism threads to roll in.

I'm in. All the customization with the abilities sounds cool. Shame the online community will most likely be non-existent but for under $20 I could get a week or two out of it. I'll have to keep an eye on this. Lets just hope there is a decent amount of single player content and no shitty online achievements even though I KNOW there will be..... *sigh*

"Combits"? ... Ughhhhhhhhh...

#24 Posted by Skogen (430 posts) -

This looks atrocious. And fuck the phrase "passion project."

#25 Posted by FluxWaveZ (19308 posts) -

Game should have been out by now. Obviously an indication of development trouble, so probably a delay. Or a cancellation.

#26 Posted by EquitasInvictus (2004 posts) -

Aw man, I saw the title and I thought this was a video game based on that indie film with Michelle Rodriguez had her first starring role in, Girlfight.

#27 Posted by Napalm (9020 posts) -

I don't know. It looks okay.

What are you talking about? All I see in relation to the game's release date is that it's supposed to come out sometime this year.

And you know? I've seen worse. Like, a lot worse.

Keep in mind this is from the studio that brought you that Bellator MMA game that hit XBLA last week.

I know, I was just about to say...

How does this company keep getting to make fighting games? Like, over and over? When they are mostly not very good?

I liked the initial art, mainly because I'm a sucker for cool/moody concept art. Yeah.

#32 Posted by Seedofpower (3925 posts) -

The game looks like pandering crap. I will be very said if it sales well.

#33 Posted by Tim_the_Corsair (3065 posts) -

This game holds no appeal to me at all, but I just wanted to say that, when I lay awake in bed at night, embraced by the darkness, I like to Imagine Babyz.

Awwwww yeah.

#34 Posted by ThunderSlash (1548 posts) -

Then it is almost a guarantee that this game will have the deepest grapple mechanics in fighting game history.

Their games might not be good, but to the right people, they might be "good enough."

But then again, who knows? Girl Fight might surprise people and blow everyone's faces off with how awesome it is. I mean, the studio that is Netherrealm was once responsible for Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. Ugh.

We can't really say until we get our hands on it. I have to know how it feels. I just like hitting shit. As long as the hit detection isn't broken, it could be cool.

I'm the one who changed the release date to 2012 after it missed its previously announced Q2 date. That's what I'm talking about.

So what you're saying is that it didn't have a solid release date to begin with beyond "Q2." That's not exactly indicative of a massive problems or a cancellation.

...yeah...I'm all for titties and ass (or T&A as you youngins say these days), but this just looks 'ugh.' Say what you will about DOA, but those games have always had good fighting first and the T&A was just the icing on the cake so to speak.

I don't recall saying that there was a massive problem. What I did say was that since the game was slated for a Q2 release and it obviously missed that date, it has either been delayed OR cancelled. A delay is obviously not something a company plans for from the outset, hence it obviously means that there's been some problem in development, minor or otherwise.

When the f**** did you guys become so critical? It's women, in revealing clothes, fighting. I'm in.

#42 Posted by mscupcakes (612 posts) -

No scantly clad dudes? This game will never sell. They should've made Guy Fight instead.

#43 Posted by Morrow (1828 posts) -

Arcana Heart 3 also features only female fighters... this game doesn't look that special to me.

Yep. Remember Rumble Roses? Neither does anyone else.

Yup, this seems about right. Excuse me while I go find some actual porn and continue to maintain a healthy consumer's criticism.
