    A new Kratos 0

The new God of War for PS4 don't just changes de formula but it puts itself on a higher level then anybody could expect it. The visuals in this game are just amazing, very polished graphics and maybe the best use of light I've seen in a game, with the prettiest metal you can imagine. Any source of energy it's also well designed, the enemies despite not having enough variety are really well made also. The main change this game goes for, compared to the rest of the series, is its pace. The combat i...

A solid foundation for a new series of adventures. 2

I love love love the God of War franchise. I think each game in the series brings something to the table and I have enjoyed playing through each of them multiple times. The PS4 release of God of War acts as a welcome refresh for the series, helping redefine and reimagine what this franchise can be. Not all of it works, but at its core it is still very much a God of War game and very much a continuation of the story of Kratos. His personality is mellowed out, probably in no small part due to him n...

A luxuriously crafted gameworld ... but I did not enjoy the combat 0

If I could rate this game in sections it would be:Visual design: 5/5Graphics 4/5Story and narrative: 2/5Gameplay: 2/5The visual design and graphics are the two most noticeable positives with this game. It looks stunning and the game-world is richly and wonderfully designed. There's plenty of variety too, in scenery and colour-pallet. From an artistic point of view then, the game is an impressive and quite remarkable achievement.I liked the writing as far as the creation of the game-world is conc...

    God of War 0

I AM MY FATHER’S SONIn 2005, Santa Monica Studio released God of War for the PlayStation 2. It spawns a hand full of sequels and it became not only a major hit for the PlayStation 2 and later PlayStation 3, it also made Kratos one of the mascots of the PlayStation. Then, in 2013 Santa Monica Studio released God of War Ascension for the PlayStation 3. When it was released, it had a lukewarm response both critically and financially. This was likely due to the fact that God of War was on its ...

The Thor Game We Deserve 1

God of War is not a game I should have enjoyed, and after spending seemingly 20+ hours playing it, reaching the credit sequence, and perhaps most importantly, planned out my trip to trade it in to get a new game, I'm not sure if I did. On the surface, there is absolutely no reason I should have even bought this game. "Cinematic" games like Naughty Dog's The Last of Us or the entire Uncharted franchise does little more than frustrate me with the lack of complex gameplay mechanics in exchange for ...

A stunning adventure that actually makes you care for Kratos. 0

The first two God of War games established the franchises popularity all the way back in the Playstation 2 days, while we were gifted with another great entry in God of War III on the PS3. With that release in 2010, it was difficult to see where they could take the franchise without butchering it to the anger of long-time fans. There were a few extra entries, including the disappointing God of War: Ascension with its odd multiplayer mechanics, as well as a few better received PSP releases over ...

    Dad of War 0

Initially I did not have a very good impression from playing this game. Coming straight off of playing the rest of the series it's very clear that this game is something completely different. Whether you like or dislike the previous games in the series one thing GoW was very successful at was having it's own identity and I feel that has somewhat been lost in this offering dropping it's combat frenzied anger simulator to become another Naughty Dog adventure.Once you get past all that it's a fine ...

    A break with tradition 0

I went into this game blind. Sorry, I should clarify. I've played all the main entries in the series. I missed the titles from the portable platforms, not by choice, but ease of access. Aside from trailers and reaction videos (such as E3 coverage on GB), I hadn't seen much. I feel this was paramount to my enjoyment of God Of War. The amalgam of systems from the combat, world exploration, and skill tree were a more than welcome addition. Don't get me wrong, I loved the previous games, but a lot h...

    God of War (2018) - Review 0

In the year of our Lord, 2018, the last thing I ever imaged writing about was a God of War game... much less how much I enjoyed it.An untold number of years have passed since Kratos left Sparta. His life away from the other Gods has been as quiet and unnoticeable as he could possibly keep it. A house in the woods, a wife, and a child have been his life. The story picks up after his wife has died and Kratos has reluctantly become a single father. Not only does he have to raise his son on his own ...

    Amending A Tiresome Series 0

God of War is not a series I would have thought absolutely needed to be rebooted, let alone a series that needs to come back at all. God of War was a consistent series but not in the best ways, combat was repetitive, story was predictable and not at all interesting, but the set pieces were by far the best part of that series from game to game. Each area felt different and new, breaking up the monotony that is furiously pressing triangle and square to bash through enemies until you get to...

As well as being another 'dad game', God Of War proves it has something to say about growing from past mistakes 0

Without the context of the initial reveal trailer and gameplay to go along wit it, there probably wasn't a sentence I could have cared less about a couple short years ago than "there is a new God of War game starring Kratos coming". To tell the truth, I actively disliked the early games in the series, admittedly only ever playing the first two on the PlayStation 2, but I never saw anything to bring me back in with the third game or God Of War Ascension. The latter itself had already been a sourc...

A Smashing Masterpiece Revitalizing the Franchise with a New Tale 0

Fun:There are many playstyles that one can spec towards to and it all feels extremely rewarding in battle. Whether you are throwing your weapon or hacking away at your enemy, it always feels pretty impactful. Smashing mythical monsters with your fists and axe never got old. The best part of combat is when you click in both analog sticks unleashing Kratos’ Spartan Rage, flurry of blows will auto target your enemies.I played the game through the normal difficulty and while it wasn't gamebrea...

God of War - The PS4's ultimate system seller 0

Sony has once again proven that their platform is the one to be on this generation because God of War is as close to a masterpiece as you can get without actually reaching that status.I've never been a huge fan of the God of War series or beat em ups, in general, so I'm really glad God of War took a different approach that's more narrative-driven with action-adventure game style combat. The story is easily one of the best in the PS4's game library too that tells the tale of a much older Kratos ...
