Vanillaware's Grand Knights History will have a grid-based combat system that lets you place your party in over 20 different formations. Formations will dictate range and different advantages, such as HP boosts. Also, as a character uses a weapon he will unlock new skills for it. Every weapon has 60 skills, 50 of which are support skills, and one can make use of up to four skills simultaneously.
It sounds like this could be fairly cool for a turn-based JRPG combat system.
