They said they would send out an e-mail containing a link to the correct client to everyone. I don't see any reason not to wait.

@S0ndor: Because it's gunna take me at least ~12 hours to download it, that's why! :P Most probably more. So if I wanna play Friday evening I need to plan when I can fuck up my whole house's internet for that long. Maaaah.

Great, now I'm going to spend the rest of the day being paranoid about why I haven't gotten my e-mail yet.

To clarify, I did not get an email and just wanted to get this out there from the other thread, in case people didn't see that thread or just missed that post or whatever. I think this is the correct client because it mentions it being for a Beta Weekend Event and precisely says it is not a "closed" beta. Also, it looks radically different from the downloader used for the last beta tests, which looked similar to the downloader for GW1.

@shinboy630: When I click on that link I download an exe that boots up a downloader that looks exactly like the one from GW, and nothing like the one in your pic.

Downloaded about 400 mb so far and it's at 1% done. I'm scared.

I can confirm that its up and that link is legit. Downloading the client now.

@S0ndor: I got that initially at first, but once that finished downloading whatever it had to (it was really small so I barely got to see) the downloader in my picture popped up.

Not sure how sarcastic that bud was, but you totally didn't 'have' to give me a hard time. A 'Hey it totally doesn't say that in the op's pic, are you sure you're reading it right?' would have sufficed, so I had spotted the error. I wouldn't have got so defensive otherwise. Got mine. I'm in the UK, if that helps. They might be going country to country or simply going down the list sorted by whenever you applied for it. I'm sure you'll get yours in a minute or so.

I haven't gotten my e-mail yet and now I'm really freaking out. I know these things take time and they did just start, but my most dreaded fear is dealing with customer service.

Also - I'll have to stay away from them Guild Wars 2 forums. The list of DONTs goes on and on and on. Hell - I can't even avoid being a jerk every so often, and it's like the only DONT up in this joint.

Guess there won't be the equivalent of a Goldshire swingers club in GW2 either.

Man game finished downloading, and booted up right away. Music on the menu started playing, and i was all like " Fuck Ya, lets play some GW2 ! " then i realized the first BWE hadn't even started. Sigh... such a tease you are Areanet.

Oh no. My download just finished and I saw the menu and log in screen and everything. Then I closed it. I now have NO IDEA where this was installed and running that gw2.exe looks like it's trying to download it from scratch. This took so long ...

The splash screen and music are 'boner' material. That melodic piano is incredible.... I'm so stoked it's embarrassing.

Well, first off, it'll boot the downloader every time you open Gw2.exe because they'll be putting out patches all the way till Friday (they've said so anyway), and that's how they will be distributed.

If you have two copies of Gw2.exe (like they say to do in the instructions), then look for the one in the same folder as a 13gig file called Gw2.dat.

Try a windows search for the .dat, maybe?

@selfconfessedcynic: I think I might be screwed. I found the gw2.dat deep in a temp folder, likely because I downloaded the exe to the downloads folder and ran it from there. The gw2.dat only had 3 mb of info, probably from when the exe ran again and I stopped it. This really bites.

So now I made a new folder on C: , put the gw2.exe in there and am running it again. I'm assuming that's close to what the instructions say because it seems as though the forums are down and I never had a chance to read them. I shouldn't have excitedly jumped the gun and downloaded before the emails went out :/

Still no email. Paranoia kicking in.
