Gwendal is a skilled swordsman who wields a greatsword. He is a mercenary in every sense of the word, and he will do anything and everything to get paid using his sword skills.
Players first meets Gwendal at the start of the game alongside Ancel and Heugoe. If players choose to side with Darius during the serf rebellion, Gwendal can be found again escorting Darius who is bringing supplies from Villnore to the serf rebels in Camille.
After Wylfred helps Darius carry out his assassination of the serf rebel leader Natalia, Darius explains to Gwendal that he will not be paid by Villnore for his services, and instead will be killed to silence anyone who is involved in Villnore's betrayal of the serf rebels. Gwendal then decides to follow Wylfred and Darius to run away from Villnore and to gain money.
