bungie is so full of sh it. They clearly hyped a map maker (even though they never said it), but then they come with this halo 3 recon sh it.

Not that it would matter anyway because there is no custom game browser. That makes seriously hard to play with people on the custom maps.
Oh and there is none for the co-op game. Take some notes from epic and their gears of war game bungie.

How about you settle down and post rationally.  There is a map-maker (sorta), called Forge.

that's not a map maker, that's a map editor, which is pretty shitty imo.

You're suggesting a map editor is better than a map maker? What? Those things developers use to make actual maps? WTF are you rambling on about? Of course, I haven't played Halo 3, but you might want to back this up.

maybe you should learn to read a lil bit.
    Mapmaker does not=game maker
Map Editor does not =map maker.

A map maker only allows you to techically make a map and then edit said map your still going to be limited by predefined guidelines in a games capability of handling said map.

A map editor is for basics the same thing except inability to do such advanced things as major terrain editing..ect though this is in debate since some map editors allow for terrain editing.

Regardless of what your using nearly all of the stuff your seeing made with either of these is by the USER, and personal experience 99% of that is crap but is much the way of things created by people, My point was that Halo 3 users have done some amazing things with forge a very *simplistic map editor* to the point that they beat out the user made content on other map editors or makers by 99% or so....Im not giving exact numbers since i dont know them but regardles I have played some amazing maps on halo 3 because of users and they are very easy to find unlike most other maps created by users for other games. Learn to read next time No where did i say a map editor was better then a map maker, My post was directed as his opinion that halo 3's forge was shitty, and the reply was that 99% of the stuff created on forge is better then stuff created by users on other games using other map editors and map makers.

The quality of a map is not limited by the maker or editor but the users abbility and imagination.

You obviously don't have much experience playing mods on PC FPS's.

I think he's saying that what people have done with the little tools provides in Halo 3 is almost greater than what people have done with full blown map creators.  This is somewhat true really, although it definately has some things you just can't do.  You have to figure, there are about 6 million people who have used the map editor for Halo 3 while only a small percentage use pc map editos to make maps.

If you check out some of the stuff you'd be suprised, there's a lot of really good stuff out there.  Basically foundry is the place and it's pretty much a cubicmass that you can create stuff with 90 degree angles (and you can obviously use methods to cheat this barrier).

Typically maps that are accepted well by the halo community are ones with good gameplay (or innovative qualities).  By contrast, pc is sort of how cool looking can you make your map at times.  For example, think about all those MarioKart levels in TF2- in reality that is just a couple of roads with a big cube in the middle.  Yet it's actually played quite a bit.  The lack of aesthetics in Halo 3 cause these to just be thrown out and more so it leans towards what Halo 1 did- bland maps with only a gameplay focus.

Granted though, there's a map creator coming out for Halo 3 soon (sandbox), so...
