well a ham sandwich is two pieces of bread with meat in between, why isn't that a hamburger?  I hamburger is called a hamburger because the kind of meat is Hamburger.  Seriously dude.

That is like why can't baked potatoes be considered french fries. They are made out of the same thing but prepared and cooked differently so they have different names.  "

Because a hamburger is a hamburger and a hot dog is a hot dog.
