    The brothers Hecatoncheires, sons of primordial gods (Protogenoi) Uranus and Gaea, are three in number, named Aigaion (or Briareus), Cottus, and Gyges. They were exiled to Tartarus by their father for being too hideous, where they remained until Zeus freed them to help him overthrow the Titans.
