A new classic?
What even is a videogame?
I tried to play this all in one sitting as I was told that was quite possible and looking back, yes, quite. However, there is no.. ending as in there is nothing to be earned, the is no great accomplishment you simply... well you just accept what has transpired. Though I guess you are not really forced into any kind of acceptance.
I became 'satisfied' of my understanding around 2 hours in; I decided to take a break and reflect, even slept on it. Its damn near impossible to say anything directly about what happens as that is what the game is, its too BE the detective. After thinking about it some I decided to go back in and at least look at all the videos. I was roughly about say 60% of the 271 videos stored here where I became 'satisfied' But after resting I wanted to see what I had missed. If I could come across anything I had over looked or anything that I could confirm.
I still have some unclear details about things and honestly its probably best left that way. Too many details ruins what is clearly the makings of a classic if not the beginning of a new genre. Though I still have leanings towards my initial theory. Though I will say a few videos I over looked has me puzzled as to that exact aspect.
The odd thing is the game doesn't REALLY work unless the search engine is almost completely useless. I keep going back in my head and wondering if I had searched 'this' instead of 'that', could I have arrived at my conclusion sooner? Could I have beaten this clearly dastardly designed search engine? Honestly, I don't think so. The snippets of interviews you do see are out of order, and out of context and you can only assume what exactly she was asked. Each scene mildly leading you with a new buzzword until at times you get lost and searching for commonly said words hoping to land on some gold.
Before I actually played the game I thought to myself, isn't this just a bunch of youtube clips that are out of order and sort of obscured? And the answer is yes, absolutely but the fact that the search engine itself becomes an enemy to progress mixed with the VERY cool aesthetic of an old CRT and film grain with old an OS and the lights in the room flickering and reflecting on the screen, the ambiance of the sirens of police vehicles buzzing by.. Even the clickity clack of the keyboard. Makes for an unforgettable experience.
Do not skip this game and stay spoiler free.
