    I hadn't heard of this game before, but I saw over at slashdot that this physics-based platforming game called Gish had had its source code released (as is usual, only the code has been released, not the resources), so I had to take a look at it. Here's a video of the game:
     
     

      
     The code though. Wow. The code is a huge mess. No doubt it'll get cleaned up now that it's out. I'm not going to go into it personally because I have my own projects to worry about. Actually, as cool as seeing commercial games (even if they are indies) opening up like this, it's even more impressive in a case like this because the source is such a mess. If you're a programmer you know exactly why, and probably even if you're not but you have some sort of creative outlet. You know that you don't want to show something publicly if it's not up to your standards.
     
     I'll go through the code some more when I have some time over and see what I can learn. I think the lesson here is that ambition and perfectionism are my biggest enemies. It's not exactly news to me, but 'rediscovering' this fact is important. I'm the kind of guy who should get that tattoo'ed to my forehead, basically.
