    Overview

    IndyCar Racing was the long awaited sequel to the classic racing simulation Indianapolis 500 which was released four years earlier. Unlike it's predecessor, IndyCar Racing featured a multiple race season, although not the complete racing season which was based on the then current IndyCar racing series. Some original drivers from the season were included in the game as well as fictional characters to fill out the driving roster completely. Rather ironically this sequel did not originally include the famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway among other tracks due to licensing issues. The eight tracks included in the game were:

    • Long Beach
    • Milwaukee
    • Portland
    • Toronto
    • Michigan
    • New Hampshire
    • Nazareth
    • Laguna Seca

    Expansion Packs

    Due to the original licensing issues an expansion pack was released with seven extra tracks;

    • Australia
    • Phoenix
    • Detroit
    • Cleveland
    • Road America
    • Vancouver
    • Mid-Ohio

    Finally after all licensing issues were corrected a final track pack was released which contained ;

    • Indianapolis Motor Speedway

    Reception

    The game was well received by critics at the time at the time due to it's realism & graphic quality although the lack of the Indianapolis track was a notable omission.
